Prestonwood Rotary Club updated their address.
This past week, we welcomed Greg Brinkley, Chief Development Officer at Vogel Alcove. He brought us some great insights about poverty in Dallas, which has the 6th largest GDP of any American city and more than 20 Fortune 500 company headquarters. Yet, approximately 4,500 children who will go to sleep tonight are without a home. Greg provided Prestonwood Rotary Club several options to support our community and especially children's charities.

Celebrating 117 years of Service Above Self!
Nothing makes up happier than when we can make an impact! This past month, we joined other volunteers at the Feed My Starving Children to pack 9,504 meals which will feed kids for one year. In addition, we donated funds of $2,231 which will include the cost of a pallet of $1,866 which feeds a classroom for a year, and $365 which feeds a family for a year.
Happy New Years! May the New Year bring you happiness, peace, and prosperity.
Wishing you a blessed Christmas and every happiness in the New Year.
Thank you to all the volunteers that came our for CHALLENGE AIR FOR KIDS EVENT! This is such a rewarding event .. where kids with special needs take to the skies. This year we hosted over 100 children and their parents for a Fly Day with free activities, food, and an opportunity to co-pilot an airplane. Check out all the smiling faces!!

Not everyone would find pictures of a bathroom or soap exciting...but we do! In keeping with Prestonwood Rotary’s long-standing commitment to international service, our chair for these projects, Glen Campbell, was able to provide the near completion of yet another water and sanitation project in Africa:
This is a grant approved by RI and is for a total project cost of $36,750, of which Prestonwood Rotary Club financed $4,500 with was matched with $2,250 from RI World Fund.
The two cities for the project are Luanshya and Ndola, Zambia. The Rotary Club of Luanshya is the host club and PRC the second club. This project includes: Provision of one waterborne toilet at Nsobe Secondary Community School; a borehole solar pump with tank and tower at MMM Vocational Training Centre; and an ablution block for physically challenged children at Dagama School.
Each of the facilities is expanding its services to the community, so these water and sanitation facilities ensure sufficient water and toilet access.
Prestonwood Rotary’s commitment to overseas water and sanitation projects dates back for many decades. For years, our member Van Northrup organized the effort, with a lot of cooperation through District 5810 and Rotary clubs in Africa, especially Zambia. After Van’s untimely death, member Gen Campbell assumed the responsibility, and fortunately, we have not missed a beat in this important contribution to Service Above Self.
Prestonwood Rotary Club was honored by District 5810 with the 2019-2020 Foundation Award for the successes in providing fresh water and sanitation for all those in need in these two cities.
Want to be part of change in the world! Join us!
