Great Rotary meeting today with guest speaker Holly Hollenbeck, District 5810 Membership Chair. Gave us some things to think about and reminded us of things we've done in the past that should be tried again! Thanks Holly!

Not everyone would find pictures of a bathroom or soap exciting...but we do! In keeping with Prestonwood Rotary’s long-standing commitment to international service, our chair for these projects, Glen Campbell, was able to provide the near completion of yet another water and sanitation project in Africa:

This is a grant approved by RI and is for a total project cost of $36,750, of which Prestonwood Rotary Club financed $4,500 with was matched with $2,250 from RI World Fund.

The two cities for the project are Luanshya and Ndola, Zambia. The Rotary Club of Luanshya is the host club and PRC the second club. This project includes: Provision of one waterborne toilet at Nsobe Secondary Community School; a borehole solar pump with tank and tower at MMM Vocational Training Centre; and an ablution block for physically challenged children at Dagama School.

Each of the facilities is expanding its services to the community, so these water and sanitation facilities ensure sufficient water and toilet access.

Prestonwood Rotary’s commitment to overseas water and sanitation projects dates back for many decades. For years, our member Van Northrup organized the effort, with a lot of cooperation through District 5810 and Rotary clubs in Africa, especially Zambia. After Van’s untimely death, member Gen Campbell assumed the responsibility, and fortunately, we have not missed a beat in this important contribution to Service Above Self.

Prestonwood Rotary Club was honored by District 5810 with the 2019-2020 Foundation Award for the successes in providing fresh water and sanitation for all those in need in these two cities.

Want to be part of change in the world! Join us!

Great evening at District 5810 Awards Night. Fantastic turnout and many very deserving clubs received awards. Congratulations to all those who continue Rotary's Service Above Self mantra. Prestonwood Rotary walked away with three Club awards: Literacy, Global Save Clean Water and Bulletin Excellence (Small Club). Congratulations also to Larry Webb for or his nomination as PRC's Star Award winner and his talents as Master of Ceremonies. Congratulations to Vickie Campbell and Glen Campbell for their Service Award as District 5810 Conference and Gala Chairs. A big thanks to Barry Hoffman, our wordsmith for Award entries. To Prestonwood's 'small but mighty' members, who made it all possible - thank you for all you do. A special thank you to PDG John Moser for a terrific year!
Every week I speak to Chambers of Commerce, Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions and other businesses and organizations about the incredible power of gratitude with a 30-minute talk entitled: “Conquering Pandemic Anxiety Through Gratitude”. My Zoom presentation demonstrates how gratitude has transformed countless people in a world of way too many unhealthy coping mechanisms. Your members will learn about: • How gratitude can overcome any life-changing event • The power of the “You Are” exercise • The 60-second gratitude challenge • How writing in a daily gratitude journal can change a life With over 1050 gratitude videos posted on my YouTube channel, thousands have seen my message. I recently spoke in Honolulu, San Antonio, Minneapolis, San Diego and at our US military bases. My published books include “The Brooker’s Daily Gratitude Journal,” “Six-Word Lessons to Embrace Gratitude” & other books on gratitude. I would love the opportunity to speak to your group about how embracing gratitude can change their lives too. “Gratitude turns what you have into enough” Thank you so much for your consideration. Gratefully, David George Brooke – “That Gratitude Guy” / 206-371-8309 www.thatgratitudeguy.com / [email protected]
