We're excited to share some incredible news! Weidner Apartment Homes has given Homeward Bound, Inc. the most heartwarming Thanksgiving gift ever! πŸ¦ƒ

πŸ‘ Over 100 amazing Weidner employee volunteers dedicated their time to make a difference at our treatment facility on University Hills Boulevard. Their impact is beyond words!

They painted, repaired, and even built a gazebo. 🌳 The team cleared land with a vision for a future park for our clients, planted over a dozen bushes, and prepared raised beds for winter planting of herbs and cold-weather veggies.

Not stopping there, they moved logs, fixed a walk-in cooler that's been out of commission for years, and worked tirelessly to make everything seem effortless.

Thank you to Weidner Apartment Homes for their generosity and hardworking volunteers! Special gratitude to the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas for connecting us. Together, we're making a positive impact! πŸ’™

Dive into the impactful work of Homeward Bound!

Our Executive Director, Douglas W. Denton, took the stage at this fall's annual Judicial Summit on Mental Health in Galveston to spotlight the incredible strides made by the Dallas County Deflection Center.

πŸ‘‰ The Deflection Center, operated by Homeward Bound, is a lifeline for mentally ill or impaired, often homeless offenders facing Criminal Trespass charges. Previously bound for jail, law enforcement officers can now opt for a more compassionate route by bringing them to Homeward Bound.

πŸ’™ Here, individuals receive a thorough assessment, access to showers, a cozy bed, and a nourishing meal. In collaboration with Parkland Hospital and the North Texas Behavioral Health Authority, we offer comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, treatment placement, and a supportive handoff to housing or family reunification.

πŸ“Š The numbers tell a powerful storyβ€”serving 301 clients in its first year, the Deflection Center is on track to support over 400 individuals this year.

Together, we're cultivating positive change and transforming lives πŸ’™

Big Clean-Up News

Meet Sophia Garcia and her dedicated team! They used to spend endless hours washing and drying bedding and towels for Homeward Bound's residential clients. Our old machines were a real struggle – they'd break down, and parts were complex to come by. But here's the exciting update:

Thanks to the incredible support from the North Texas Behavioral Health Authority, along with the generous contributions of Bob Gotovac and the Single Spirit Sunday school class at First Baptist Church Dallas, we now have brand-new, health-care-grade, large load washers and dryers!

With these two new washers and three new dryers for general laundry, we're now meeting CDC standards for residential health facilities. What's even better? We still have enough funds to purchase new laundry equipment for the treatment units where clients launder their clothing.

Together, we're positively impacting the lives of those we serve!

🌟 Big News! 🀝

Homeward Bound is thrilled to announce that our long-time partners at Holmes Murphy & Associates have donated $4,200 this month!

During a special visit to our outpatient facility, we had the pleasure of hosting Holmes Murphy's Vice President, Steve Gwinn, and Nancy E. Lumme, Senior Service Consultant, and Elsa Dunson, Senior Benefits Coordinator. They presented a heartfelt check and engaged in an inspiring conversation with Jeff Fuller, Homeward Bound Associate Director, Doug Denton, Executive Director, and Christine Wicker, Director of Development.

But there's more to this heartwarming story! The meeting also revolved around exciting opportunities for the 150 employees at their Dallas office to get involved and impact our community.

We deeply thank Holmes Murphy & Associates for their unwavering support and dedication to our mission. Together, we're building a brighter future for those in need.

Degie Jones has faced addiction since she was 11 years old. She’s been to prison. She’s been to treatment centers. But no one cared enough to give her the kind of help she needed. Until Homeward Bound.

Homeward Bound gives people like Degie Jones the chance to help transform the lives of suffering people. Second chances work.

Helping people transform themselves is what we do. And we can't do that without you.

We have already almost hit our goal for NTX Giving Day and it is only noon. Will you help us hit $10,000 by midnight? Donate here: https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/organization/Hbinctx
