PAVEMENT CHIP SEAL PROJECTS

A notice from our colleagues at Polk County Public Works:

July 20-31, 2026, Polk County Public Works crews will be applying a chip seal and fog seal to various roads in the Central Polk County/Rickreall area. Work hours will generally be between 7:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. Drivers should expect some delays as roads will be reduced to one lane of traffic during treatment. All lanes will be open to reduced-speed traffic at the end of each workday.

ENTERPRISE RD CLOSED 7/23/26 - 7/25/26

A notice from our colleagues at Polk County Public Works:

The paved portion of Enterprise Road will undergo an asphalt overlay to improve road quality and safety. To complete this work efficiently and safely, Enterprise Road will be closed to all thru traffic on Thursday, July 23 through Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Please note the following key details regarding the closure:

· Closure Dates: Thursday, July 23 through Saturday, July 25, 2026.

· Hours of Work: Operations will begin early in the morning each day.

· Property Access: All thru traffic will be redirected to detour routes. Local traffic will be permitted as work allows. Vehicles will not be able to drive on the fresh asphalt during application and cooling times.

· Service Interruptions: Local deliveries, waste collection, and mail services may be altered or delayed during the construction period.

We apologize for this temporary inconvenience and appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our community infrastructure.

This week The Board of Commissioners and staff recognized Kayla Silverman for Special Thanks and Recognition (STAR Award.)

Todd Whitaker, Public Works Director, has nominated her for these reasons:

In the last year, Kayla has gone above and beyond to handle the influx of permitting load after the loss of staff in 2025, and has assumed much of the training responsibility of new engineering staff. In addition, she has taken on and satisfied our new obligations for stormwater permitting during this same time period. Her efforts keep the department functioning as expected and she should be commended for her dedication and service to Polk County Public Works.


On behalf of the Board, we are excited to recognize Kayla for the STAR Recognition Award. Thank you for all that you do!

LES SCHWAB DIAPER DRIVE FINAL RESULTS

The final count is in! This April, Mid-Willamette Valley Les Schwab Tire Centers hosted the 17th annual Diaper Drive benefiting children and families partnering with Family Building Blocks. They collected a grand total of 76,090 diapers for Family Building Blocks!

Thank you to our community for keeping babies safe and dry with us - diapers are already on their way out the door to the children and families in our programs!

Special thanks to all the partners and volunteers who made this happen!
