Please join us in congratulating Officer Tristan Thompson on his selection as our next School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Dallas School District!

Officer Thompson is looking forward to spending the upcoming school year working closely with students, staff and families to help maintain a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.

You will see him out and about building relationships with students while participating in school activities and attending student events. We are also looking forward to the possibility of Officer Thompson continuing the classroom instruction portion of the SRO program, where he could teach and mentor students interested in criminal justice.

While most students are busy enjoying their summer break, we have a feeling Officer Thompson will be counting down the days until school is back in session and he can officially begin his new assignment.

We are excited to see the positive influence Officer Thompson will have in our schools and look forward to a successful and inspiring school year ahead for all of our Dallas students and staff!

🌧️🐺 Monday 6/8 Field Day is ON — Rain or Shine! 🐺🌧️

Whitworth Families,

As many of you have probably noticed, Mother Nature appears determined to be a participant in tomorrow's Field Day activities. While the forecast is calling for rain throughout much of the day, our plans remain unchanged!

Our students have worked hard all year, and we're excited to spend one final full day together celebrating, laughing, competing, and making memories. A little Oregon liquid sunshine isn't going to stop us now.

Please help your student come prepared by sending them in:
☔ Rain jackets or waterproof layers
👟 Shoes they don't mind getting wet or muddy
🧦 An extra pair of socks (trust us on this one!)
👕 A change of clothes if you'd like

We may adjust some activities throughout the day, but we are committed to making Field Day fun, safe, and memorable for everyone.

After all, if our students can be ALL IN for learning, we can certainly be ALL IN for a little rain!

Thank you to Mr. Button, our amazing PTC, volunteers, and staff who have worked hard to make tomorrow possible.

Let's enjoy our final full day of school together—rain or shine! 🌦️🐺

Join us today, May 21st at 1:30pm in the Whitworth Gym for an afternoon of music, fun, and outstanding performances by our amazing 5th grade HOWLER choir!

🎟️ Free Admission

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents, families, and friends are all welcome! Please come through the main office entrance. We will send everyone down to the gym at 1:15pm.

Anyone that is planning to take their student home, we will ask you to remain in the gym after the performance and students will come back to the gym at dismissal after getting their belongings.

Come out and support these awesome young performers as they showcase all of their hard work and talent. We can’t wait to see you there! 💙🐺💛

Whitworth Families,

We need your support with an increase in “play fighting” at school. While students may see it as joking around, roughhousing, wrestling, slap boxing, and fake fighting can quickly become unsafe and lead to conflict, injuries, or disciplinary consequences.

At Whitworth, our expectation is simple: Keep hands, feet, and bodies to self.

Please help us by talking with your student about:
• Avoiding play fighting or roughhousing
• Walking away before situations escalate
• Being respectful and safe at school

Social media trends do not set school expectations. Safety, respect, and responsibility do.

As we wrap up another busy week at Whitworth, I want to once again recognize and celebrate our incredible teaching staff.

Our teachers consistently give their time, energy, patience, creativity, and heart to our students and school community. The work they do each day often extends far beyond the classroom walls, and Whitworth is a better place because of their dedication to kids.

Thank you to our Classified staff who helped make Teacher Appreciation Week special through kind words, notes, treats, meals, gifts and encouragement. Those gestures truly matter and help remind our staff how valued they are. Thank you as well to any families and community members who helped make Teacher Appreciation Week special as well.

Whitworth is fortunate to have a team that is truly ALL IN for students every single day. 💙🐺

***Please note that some students may have specific items identified in an IEP, 504 Plan, or Behavior Support Plan that serve as support tools for learning, regulation, or access to school. In these cases, the use and access to those items are coordinated and managed by school staff as part of the student’s individualized support plan.

🧩 Toys, Squishies, & Personal Items
Please help remind your student to leave toys, squishies, plushies, and similar items at home.
These items HAVE become distractions and lead to unnecessary conflicts during our school day.

Bringing ANY of these items to school often creates safety and supervision concerns during recess and transitions.
