Trinity River Audubon Center offers something for the whole family – 5 miles of hiking trails through the Great Trinity Forest and our prairies and wetlands and, of course, birds! We won’t pretend it’s not hot outside, but- for those willing to brave the heat- North Texas still has a lot to offer!

Our ponds are filled with herons, egrets, and the strikingly beautiful White Ibis. And the good news is, you can see them from just outside of the building! No need to venture out too far in the heat!

Feel free to check out a pair of binoculars at our front desk for a closer view of the Ibises foraging, and be sure to stay safe, cool, and hydrated!

“Sound Travels” Exhibit Now Live! 🎧

Come interact with our new exhibit to learn about the impact of noise!

People can help reduce noise pollution for birds at home, in their communities, and by supporting conservation efforts. Here are some practical ideas:

At Home
🔈Reduce unnecessary use of gas-powered equipment like leaf blowers and lawn mowers, or switch to quieter electric versions.
🌳Plant trees and shrubs, which help absorb sound and provide habitat.
🐦‍⬛Create bird-friendly yards with native plants so birds have places to forage and nest away from noisy areas.

In your community:
🗣️Advocate for green spaces and tree planting, which can buffer noise from roads.
🛑Encourage traffic-calming measures in neighborhoods, since road traffic is a major source of chronic noise pollution.
🤲🏾Support local parks and conservation organizations working to protect bird habitats.
