The bisexual actress took to Instagram in 2023 to bring attention to the plight of LGBTQ+ refugees, saying, "Everywhere in the world, people face discrimination because of who they love, who they are attracted to, and who they are. Le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, q***r (LGBTIQ+) people risk being unfairly treated in all areas of their lives."

Her caption continued to say, "Laws need to protect the equal rights of all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Wherever they are."

Zohran Mamdani's Pride message is hitting a little different this year. He traced NYC's q***r history from the Cercle Hermaphroditos in 1895 — the first trans advocacy group in the US — through the Harlem Renaissance drag balls, Stonewall, the Le***an Herstory Archives, and ACT UP, founded while the Reagan administration let q***r people die without looking up from their desks.

"You deserve a City where you can afford to live safely, openly, and joyfully." In a political moment where Pride statements feel increasingly hollow, this one actually did its homework. Happy Pride. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
