📚 Nominate a community hero for the A.C. Greene Award!

This annual award honors a dedicated volunteer (not of DPL staff) who exemplifies a passion for lifelong learning, reading, and libraries in Dallas.

Named for legendary Texas author and journalist A.C. Greene, who was a memoirist, historian, and influential book critic who helped shape the literary voice of Texas. Greene's passion for telling the history and lore of Texas earned him several awards from the Texas Institute of Arts and Letters. The A.C. Greene award celebrates those like Greene who inspire curiosity and connection in our communities.

✨ Know someone who fits the bill? Nominations are open through April 30.

🎥 FoDPL x DIFF!
We’re proud to partner with the Dallas International Film Festival to spotlight "The Librarians" — a powerful new documentary that turned heads at Sundance and SXSW. 📚💥
"The Librarians" follows the brave fight against book bans and censorship across Texas, Florida, and beyond — where librarians are standing up for intellectual freedom and democracy.
Director Kim A. Snyder will be in attendance, and trust us, you don’t want to miss this!

📅 Screenings:
📍 Sunday, April 27 @ 7:00 PM – Texas Theatre Upstairs
📍 Monday, April 28 @ 4:30 PM – Cinépolis Victory Park

This film is a must-see for anyone who believes in the power of libraries, free thought, and standing up for what’s right. 🙌 For more information about the festival and to purchase screening tickets, visit diffdallas.org/diff-2025-program.

📚✨ What a day! Thank you to everyone who joined us Wednesday at the Literary Lions Luncheon as we celebrated National Library Week and 75 years of Friends of the Dallas Public Library!

Nearly 300 library advocates gathered at the beautiful Arts District Mansion for an inspiring afternoon with special guest speaker, Ben Fountain, who reminded us just how vital libraries are to a strong, equitable, and informed society. 💬📖

A huge thank you to our generous sponsors and donors who made this unforgettable celebration possible. And a special shoutout to an Anonymous Donor whose incredible gift provided everyone in attendance with a one-year Friends membership—growing our library-loving community overnight!

Here’s to the next 75 years of advocacy, access, and impact. 🙌
