John Ware was a pioneering black cowboy with Texas roots who settled in Alberta, Canada at the turn of the 20th Century. Director Cheryl Foggo’s film John Ware Reclaimed examines who this iconic figure might have been, and what his legacy means in terms of anti-Black racism, both past and present.

The Consulate General of Canada in Dallas is partnering with the Lone Star Film Festival and Fort Worth Film Commission to screen John Ware Reclaimed on Saturday, November 12 at 3pm.

Join us at the Cowboy Channel Studio in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards as we delve into the story of John Ware. Ware was a pioneering black cowboy with Texas roots who settled in Alberta, Canada at the turn of the 20th Century. Director Cheryl Foggo’s film John Ware Reclaimed examines who this iconic figure might have been, and what his legacy means in terms of anti-Black racism, both past and present.
