We want to wish our very own Katie Joy a very joyous belated birthday! A lover of nature and people, she is our office social butterfly and can be found visiting families in Vickery or giving hugs to those who cross her path. We are grateful for the way she champions the need of others. 💚

Did you know that the NCC will have a breakout session at this year’s Northwest Bible Church Women's Ministry spring retreat next month? Faith will give a refugee 101 presentation and then lead a project focused on our baby shower program! We have nearly 100 expecting mothers attend our baby showers every year and we would love for you to join us at the spring retreat and one of our upcoming baby shower programs!

The books have a fancy new home in the newly renovated NCC library! Knox decided to renovate the library as part of his Eagle Scout project and we are in love with the results! 😍 Over the last couple of weekends, he installed these custom bookshelves, which will allow us to hold more books and provide reading materials for students and adults learning English! 📚📖📕

On Saturday, the first 25 families to drop off their load of clothes will get their laundry serviced by volunteers. Clothes can be brought to the NCC lobby starting at 9 am.

It is first come first serve. No blankets allowed.

The mission of the Northwest Community Center is to AID, EMPOWER, and INVITE refugees to experience new life.

Earlier this week, President Trump signed an executive order suspending the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program; this will go into effect on Monday "until such time as the further entry into the United States of refugees aligns with the interests of the United States." Homeland Security will report back within 90 days whether resuming refugee entries would "be in the interests" of America. We recognize that this leaves many vulnerable individuals without the safety and opportunities they desperately need to not only survive, but thrive.

While the United States border may be closed for new refugee families, there are thousands of refugees already here. Our mission does not change. Now, more than ever, we need your help to care for our neighbors here in Vickery Meadow. Visit our website www.nccrefugees.org to learn ways you can invest in the lives of refugees here in Dallas.

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream ~ that equality, justice, and human dignity extend beyond borders and backgrounds. At the Northwest Community Center, we see his vision alive in our work with refugees who have overcome unimaginable challenges in search of safety, opportunity, and a better future.

Refugees face unique struggles—discrimination, barriers to employment, and limited access to resources—that echo the fight for civil rights Dr. King championed. Let’s continue his mission by advocating for justice and equity for all, regardless of where they come from.

Join us in creating a community where everyone belongs. Support our programs by volunteering and being a voice for others.

One hour till we kick off Perspectives at the NCC! Are you coming? First night is free!

Perspectives is a fifteen-lesson discipleship course exploring different aspects of God’s global purpose in a multi-faceted learning experience. The course examines the story of God fulfilling His promises from four vantage points or “perspectives” — Biblical, Historical, Cultural, and Strategic.

English classes will meet as scheduled.

English classes start this Monday! If you are a new student, you can register for beginner and intermediate classes on Monday, January 6th, at 9 am. You will be tested and placed in the appropriate level class by Richardson ISD Adult Education staff.

Please note that these classes are run by Richardson ISD Adult Education. NCC staff will not be able to enroll you in class if you miss registration.

Limited childcare is available from kids 1-3 years old. It is on a first come first serve basis.

It’s a new year and we thought we’d reintroduce ourselves as we have several new followers and refugee neighbors.

The Northwest Community Center is located in the heart of Vickery Meadow and exists to serve refugees in this community. Our building is used 7 days a week, offering free programming for both kids and adults. Be on the lookout later this month as we highlight the all our events and programs!

Our mission is to AID refugees to start a new life, EMPOWER refugees to thrive in a new culture, and INVITE refugees to experience new life. Northwest has been ministering in this area for over two decades and our heart is to come alongside our refugee neighbors and build relationships with them! We have a dedicated team ready to serve you as best we can!
