Good Evening Costner Parents,

This is Dr. Brusie with a message regarding report cards. You can come to the school this week between 8am-3pm to pick up your child's report card. Individual Student Reports from the reading and math EOGs are available for you to view through Infinite Campus. If you are not familiar with accessing Infinite Campus you can visit the Gaston County website and access the Infinite Campus tab for access information. You can also call or stop into the school for assistance.

Good Evening Costner Families,

This is Dr. Brusie with information for the upcoming week. We did it! We have reached the final week of school for the year and this week will recognize and celebrate our students. Monday afternoon our fifth graders will celebrate the end of their elementary years with a fun day outdoors. Please make sure your fifth grader has a change of clothes and a towel!

Tuesday we begin our awards recognition with 4th grade. We hope to start close to 7:45, but it will likely be closer to 8:00. Third grade will begin at 9:00, 1st grade at 10:00 and 2nd grade at 11:00. On Wednesday morning we will recognize our Kindergarten students at 8:15 and 5th grade at 10:00. If you plan to take your student home with you following awards you will need to sign out with your child's teacher. Wednesday is the last day for students and we will dismiss at our regular dismissal time of 2:30.

This year we will have report cards in the school office for you to pick up the week of May 26-29. The office will be open to assist you from 8am-3pm.

The PTO will hold its final meeting of the school year Monday, May 18 at 6pm in the library. If you are interested in being a part of the PTO for next year or just want to see what the PTO does for our students and staff, please come to Monday's meeting. We hope to see you there! Good Evening Costner Families,

This is Dr. Brusie with information for the upcoming week. Happy Mothers Day to all our wonderful moms! This week our students in grades 3-5 will continue with end of grade testing. On Monday our students will take the math EOG. We need all students to arrive on time and ready to test first thing in the morning. As a reminder, a student will not be allowed to test if they arrive after the test session begins. I have the slime ready to go, so I hope to see all of our students at school ready to take the math test. Wednesday our 5th grade will take the science EOG.

Next week we will recognize our students and their hard work through our Awards Ceremony. Students in grades 1-4 will be recognized on May 19 and students in kindergarten and 5th grade will be recognized on May 20. Please reach out to your child's teacher for specific times. Wednesday, May 20 is the last day of school for students.

We would like to thank the Costner PTO for an amazing Teacher Appreciation week. Our staff was treated to lunch and other goodies throughout the week. It was greatly appreciated by all. Thank you for supporting the entire staff. As always, we appreciate your continued support and have a great evening.

Over the past week, Costner students and staff delighted in honoring the seniors from Highland School of Technology and North Gaston High School. Some were welcomed by former teachers, and others by siblings. We are so proud of you all. Congratulations Class of 2026!

Good Evening Costner Families,

This is Dr. Brusie with information for the week ahead. This week we honor our teachers with Teacher Appreciation Week. I know you will join me in thanking them for their unwavering dedication to the education of our students. It's not too late if you have the ability to come in during the lunch period this week to help cover lunch so that teachers can enjoy a lunch provided by the PTO.

This Thursday our 3rd-5th graders will take their end of grade reading test. It is important that students be present Thursday to take the test with their class. I have challenged students to have 100% participation on this day, and on Monday, May 11 for the math test. Classes with 100% participation will be able to take part in slimming the principal.

The end of year awards are scheduled for May 19 and May 20. Please check the flyer shared by teachers in Dojo for your child's assigned day and time.

Good Evening Costner Families,

This is Dr. Brusie with information for the upcoming week. Our 3rd-5th grade students have only 8 instructional days left before we begin end of grade testing. These assessments allow students to demonstrate the amount of academic growth they have made throughout the school year. We know how hard they have worked and this is the time for our students to shine. The reading test will be administered on May 7, math on May 11 and 5th grade science on May 13. We need all of our students taking the assessments to be present in school on these test days. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you are able to assist us by proctoring for the assessments.

We will no longer be accepting money for yearbooks. Once the books arrive and are distributed, we will have a limited amount available for purchase and will let you know at that time.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Your child's teacher works incredibly hard everyday. The Costner PTO will be celebrating our teachers throughout the week. Please join them in honoring our teachers.

The Costner PTO will hold their monthly meeting tonight at 6pm. The team will meet in the school library to plan end of year events. Everyone is welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing you there.

Good Evening Costner Families,

This is Dr. Brusie with information for the upcoming week. This week marks the midpoint of the fourth nine weeks of school. Be sure to check in with your child's teacher, Schoology, or if you have a 5th grader, check Infinite Campus for current grades. Now is the time to make sure your child has assignments turned in and is on a good path toward the end of the year.

This week our teachers in grades K-4 will begin to assess reading skills through our end of year mClass assessments. This assessment measures foundational reading skills, phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, and guides classroom instruction.

In just a few short weeks we will begin our End of Grade assessments in reading and math for 3rd-5th grade and science for 5th grade. We are required to have test proctors to ensure integrity, security, and fairness in testing and we could use your help. We will need proctors on May 7th, 11th and 13th. Look for a sign up form to come home very soon.

Yearbooks are still being offered for pre-sale through this week. You can purchase online at www.buythebook.com with the code 738893, or you can send in cash or a check payable to Costner for $20. We will have a limited number of books available after the presale date.

I would like to thank all of our parents who have helped us this year at Costner. We had a very successful Field Day thanks to all of you and especially PTO. We also had a successful trip to Raleigh with our 4th and 5th graders. We can't do it without you. Thank you and have a great evening.
