The Dallas Morning News Charities

The Dallas Morning News Charities The Dallas Morning News Charities. Founded in 1986, we annually identify and then distribute funds to agencies that provide food, shelter and clothing.

To be considered for funding, an agency must supply shelter, food, clothing and other basic assistance to the hungry and homeless in North Texas. These agencies do all of that and more. They offer hope to countless people in need. Agencies apply in June to receive funding from the Dallas Morning News Charities. The applications are reviewed by The Charities’ board of directors, with assistance fro

m the Communities Foundation of Texas. Recipients are selected based on the quality of services provided, geographic and demographic coverage of the area, board and volunteer involvement and sound fiscal management. A balance is maintained between shelters, emergency services and rehabilitative programs, with each agency receiving a board-designated percentage of the contributions.
