Saturday November 19th: Encore Park is one of more than a dozen stops on the Cedars Open Studios Tour.
Art works, mostly acrylics, by 18 Stewpot artists (Encore Park's sister organization) will be on display and for sale in the Encore Park Community Garden during the tour. 90% of sales go back to the at-risk or homeless Stewpot artist, while the other 10% pays for art supplies for future works of art. At 11 a.m., there will be an official unveiling of a commissioned permanent mural installation on the Encore Park Community Garden shed. The Stewpot Open Art Studio arts program held a mural contest for a commissioned permanent mural installation last spring. Stewpot artist Darrell Plunkett’s design was selected out of 16 entries.

In addition, free tours of Encore Park's historic 508 Park building will occur every hour. Tours are led by Encore Park's executive director, Pat Bywaters, who will share the music, film, architectural, and social history of the building that began in the 1930s when blues legend Robert Johnson recorded his final songs there.

Because of the nippy temperature Friday the art will be displayed indoors at Encore Park. On-site signage or volunteers will direct visitors.
