We would like to thank all our volunteers who assisted with our 162nd Commemoration of the Battle of Pickett's Mill on Saturday, May 30th, 2026. Thanks to them, we were able to feature our soldier's demonstrations, live music, and medical and civilian programs. We are looking forward to next year!

We would like to share the schedule for our Junior Ranger Family Day Camp, which we will be having on Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 14th of 2026. There will be unique activities on each day!

Saturday:

Combined with our monthly Voices of America program, we will have a presentation on the Polish Americans who participated in the Battle of Pickett's Mill, featuring a meal of their culture. Spectators will be allowed samples. We will also demonstrate how people in the 1800s washed their clothing.
After these programs, participants will be given time to take a lunch break. While snacks will be offered, we recommend that everyone bring a lunch. We have a picnic area behind the visitor center that participants are more than welcome to use.
After lunch, we will take a hike up to our historic cabin. This hike is a one-mile round-trip and is on flat terrain. Once there, a ranger will offer a guided tour and participants will have the opportunity to try out historic games.
Afterward, we will return to the visitor center, where we will demonstrate the making of seed balls and leaf etching. These are both take-home programs and all materials will be provided.

Sunday:

Sunday morning, we will offer a second cooking program, with samples being provided. There will also be a second laundry demonstration, alongside a presentation on historical fashion.
We will then break for lunch. Snacks will be offered, but we recommend bringing your own lunch.
After lunch, we will embark on a hike to our creek. This will include a scavenger hunt. This hike is approximately two miles and of moderate difficulty.
Once we return to the visitor center, we will have another opportunity to try out some historic games and to learn the process of historic broom-making.

There is a $5 per person, per day fee for our Junior Ranger Family Day Camp.

We recommend arriving at our visitor center by 10:00 AM each day for the full experience, but drop-ins are also welcome, as activities will be ongoing throughout the day.

Remember to pick up a Junior Ranger booklet at our visitor center. Those who complete at least three of our programs either day will earn their own Junior Ranger badge. There is no additional fee to do this.

In the event of rain, most of these programs can be moved indoors.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call our park office at 770-443-7850.
