OCT 23 Journalist discusses Journalism – Free & Open to the public ~~~~~
Tristan Hallman, who covers City Hall for the Dallas Morning News (DMN), will discuss his coverage from a journalist’s viewpoint at the Oct. 23 meeting of Indivisible Oak Cliff (IOC). The meeting starts at 6:30 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff, 3839 W. Kiest Blvd., Dallas. ~~~~~
Mr. Hallman graduated from Granbury High School and studied political science at St. Edward’s University and studied his craft at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. He interned for the Houston Chronicle/San Antonio Express-News Austin Bureau, the Texas Tribune, Gannett’s Washington Bureau, the New York Times, and the DMN (in Washington and Dallas). ~~~~~
His work has appeared in various publications. He has covered City Hall for 2 years and previously covered the Dallas Police Department. ~~~~~
He has covered a wide range of issues including the removal of General Lee’s statutes, poverty rates for children in Dallas, the protection of Lake Cliff property, issues involving the police and firemen’s pensions, and many more. ~~~~~
A variety of postcards are provided at the meeting for those who wish to address issues with elected officials..

Sept. 25 – Jolt visits Indivisible Oak Cliff meeting ~~~~~
Learn about Jolt, an activist group supporting Texas Latinx and working to engage and motivate voters. Local Jolt organizer Kendall Kindred will speak at Indivisible Oak Cliff (IOC) meeting on Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff, 3839 W Kiest, Dallas, 75233 ~~~~~
Jolt, a non-profit, believes all Texans deserve to live free from racial profiling, free from the fear of deportation, free from detention and free from police violence. ~~~~~
IOC is a nonpartisan group, based in Oak Cliff, Texas started in Jan.2017. The mission is to support inclusiveness, the freedoms codified in the Constitution, respect for human rights and dignity, and the peace and well-being of future generations and to oppose government actions and officials who disregard these values. ~~~~~

September 10- Attention Jazz Musicians & Fans - 5-7 pm.
If you enjoy playing or singing or just listening to Jazz in a quiet setting while having a glass of wine or cold beer, come on down to the Labyrinth Walk Coffee House at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff, 3839 W. Kiest Blvd, Dallas, TX 75233 from 5 to 7 pm for the 2nd Sunday Jazz Jam. There is no admission fee. Donations are distributed among the performers. ~~~~~~~
Players bring your instruments, singers bring your voice and both bring your Real Books (Hal Leonard 6th edition VOL I & II) and join in. Something new? Bring it along as well with the sheet music and the lyrics. We have no equipment for musicians so please be as self contained as possible. ~~~~~~~
If you just want to sit and listen, bring your soft drinks, wine or beer and food, if you wish. Come planning on having a great time and hearing some of the finest musicians in the Metroplex and invite a friend to come with you. ~~~~~~~
