State Route I-83 Over State Route 2002 Springwood Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project (Revised 5/5/2026)

The construction of the I-83 bridge over Springwood Road in York Township is scheduled to start on or about June 1, 2026. Springwood Road under I83 will be closed at the start of the project and will remain closed until the project is substantially completed. Signage about the road closure will go up about two weeks prior to the closure, and detour signage will be in place. See below for information about the project and a detour map.

Project Scope: This is a bridge rehabilitation project on SR I-83 in York Township in York County over SR 2002 Springwood Road, with construction consisting of repairs made to the dual adjacent prestressed concrete I-beam bridge, roadway milling, paving,
and barrier replacement, all as indicated on the approved drawings included in the Bid.

I-83 is classified as an Urban Interstate while Springwood Road is classified as an Urban Arterial. The posted speeds are 55 MPH and 35 MPH, respectively. During construction Springwood Road will be under a detour to provide contractors sufficient space while performing the bridge and road rehabilitation. I-83 will remain open to traffic in both directions throughout construction.

The map below is a detour route during construction.
