Lower Mahanoy Fire Company - Station 62

The Lower Mahanoy Fire Company is a small rural fire company located in Lower Northumberland County, Pennsylvania and is 100% volunteer.

04/17/2026

Last night around 12:05 am, Engine 62 was dispatched to Upper Paxton Twp in Dauphin County for a multi unit residential structure fire. The engine crew assisted with fire suppression and overhaul for approximately 2.5 hours before returning available.

Tanker 62 along with the Tanker Task Force is currently responding to 3478 Mile Hill Road in Upper Augusta Twp for a second alarm house fire.

03/08/2026

Yesterday around 11:40 am Station 62 and 64 along with Brush 26 were dispatched to 551 Mckees Road in Lower Mahanoy Twp for a controlled burn that had started a brush fire. Upon arrival Crews deployed landlines and kept it contained to the original burn pile. Tankers from 63 and 28 were also dispatched to assist. Crews put out enough water on the fire that the home owner would be able to keep it contained on their own without putting it completely out.

While it did not spread to the mountain and start a brush fire the leaves and brush started smoking across the road from the burn pile which prompted the owner to call 911. We would much rather respond and assist for a controlled burn than a brush fire or mountain fire so here is a good example of when to call 911 out of precaution rather than waiting till it gets worse.

02/03/2026

At 8:41pm last night Station 62 was dispatched to assist with forcible entry on River Road in Dalmatia for a medical emergency. The Engine and Brush responded and upon arrival it was determined forcible entry was not needed. The patient was assessed and determined that fire services were not needed and MICU 6-1 could handle. Units cleared that scene and responded to Water Street for another medical call that was dispatched around the same time. Crews assessed and treated that patient until care was turned over to Micu 54. A total of 9 members responded to the 2 medical calls.

01/31/2026

At 3:21 am Tanker 62 was dispatched on the 52 box to 2486 State Route 890 in Rockefeller Twp on the Tanker task force for a working building fire. The Tanker responded and operated on scene for about an hour and a half before returning available.

01/06/2026

On January 2nd at 7:25pm Engine 62 was dispatched to 250 Market Street in Millersburg for a working building fire. The engine responded with 5 and assisted at the scene for about an hour before returning available. Great stop by the initial responding units.

Friday December 19th starting at 6pm the fire company will be taking Santa around town and giving snacks to everyone. Afterwards he will be at the fire company as well.

08/04/2025

On Sunday morning at 1:03 am Staion 63 and 64 were dispatched for a vehicle fire next to a structure at 119 South Main Street in Herndon. Several minutes later it was upgraded to a 1st alarm structure fire which added our engine and and tanker along with several other departments. Crews were able to hold the fire to the exterior of the home. Both the house involved and neighboring house sustained damage to the exterior and the vehicle was a total loss.

The Northumberland County 911 system is currently down along with a large portion of the state. If you have an emergency you can call the non-emergency line for Northumberland County at 570-988-4539. If your in a different county google or look on their pages to find the regular numbers The non emergency lines are working just not the 911 lines. You can also call or stop at local fire station as well.
