Wednesday morning Dalton Fire Rescue responded to a fire involving several parked vehicles at a home on the extreme south end of Faraway Road near Forest Lake. Whitefield Fire Department was immediately toned for mutual aid, their station being much nearer to the scene. On arrival, two cars were fully involved and fire was spreading into the wooded area nearby. Quick action by the Whitefield crew brought the fire under control and prevented this from becoming a much larger incident. Mutual aid is essential to keeping our communities safe and Dalton Fire Rescue extends its thanks to Whitefield Fire Department.

Thank you White Mountain Wrath !

This past Thursday afternoon, Dalton Fire Rescue responded to a wildland fire of approximately 10 acres on a mountainside in Dalton. High winds caused the fire to spread quickly, running up the mountain and down the opposite side. We were fortunate to have strong mutual aid support from the Bethlehem Fire Department, Whitefield Fire Department, Lancaster Fire Department, as well as fire wardens from New Hampshire Forests & Lands. The fire was contained and extinguished by sundown. Dalton Fire Rescue would like to thank everyone for their assistance and teamwork.

This past Saturday Dalton and Whitefield personnel held a joint ice rescue training exercise on Burns Pond as the melt was just beginning. Instructors demonstrated techniques and played the part of the victims while members of both departments performed tethered swimmer and boat rescues. Thanks to Whitefield Firefighters Association. for arranging the exercise and including DFR.

The ice on all our local ponds and rivers is thinning and rapidly becoming unsafe, so best keep off!

This morning, members of Dalton Fire Rescue joined Lancaster Fire Department for a live-fire training burn at a vacant house in Lancaster. Crews from Jefferson, Lunenburg, Whitefield and Dalton participated, with about 20 firefighters training through multiple interior firefighting scenarios throughout the structure. These realistic, supervised exercises help us practice critical skills and ensure we’re prepared to protect our community when it matters most.

A big thank you to Lancaster Fire Department for hosting the training and inviting our crew to participate. We appreciate the opportunity and the great teamwork!
