📢 Join Us for Mental Health First Aid Training! 📢

🧠 Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders in adults. This 8-hour training equips you with the skills to provide initial support to those in need and connect them to appropriate care.

📅 Date: Friday, March 14 🕘 Time: 9 AM - 5 PM 📍 Location: Gordon County Extension Office, 1282 GA-53 Spur, Calhoun, GA

This training is based on a newly-updated national curriculum, developed over the past year, and includes expanded content on trauma, addiction, and self-care. Participants who successfully complete the course will be certified in Mental Health First Aid for 3 years.

💻 This will be a blended training, with 2 hours of online pre-work followed by in-person training.

In light of the severe weather warnings for some areas of Georgia, we are posting severe weather safety information. Get started preparing for severe weather by packing an emergency kit!
Start with the basics:
- Prepare one gallon of bottled water per person, per day.
- Grab blankets to keep warm and dry.
- Find flashlights and batteries in case of power outages.
Pick food that will last, like:
- Canned foods with flip-top lids, or have a manual can opener ready to use.
- Protein-rich foods that don't need refrigeration.
- Dry and healthy snacks that are ready-to-eat.
Lastly, stay alert and keep in touch:
- Charge your phone and have a portable charger ready.
- Check in on others to make sure they are safe.
- Stay connected to news and local updates.
- Have a plan with your family in case of emergency.
