Today was a big day, Whitfield County.

Today, Narcotics Investigators along with the assistance of our Special Response Team, executed a search warrant that led to the arrest of Eric Stone of Dalton. eric was transported to the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office Jail and is currently being held without bond on the following charges:
Possession of Methamphetamine
Possession of Methamphetamine with intent to distribute
Possession of drug related objects
Possession of tools for the commission of a crime
Possession of Schedule I controlled substance
Criminal use of article with altered ID mark

The video speaks for itself, don't deal drugs in our county.

Whitfield County, it's happening again. Scammers are trying to take your money. This time, they are posing as pastors or leaders of local churches.

Remember, if ANYONE calls you and asks for money, you should be suspicious. Hang the phone up and call the known person or institution DIRECTLY to verify any information that is being given on a call. If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be your preacher, be suspicious!

Someone called us a little while ago and told us the Goodyear Blimp was flying over town today? We ran outside and saw a blimp, but upon closer examination, it definitely wasn't Goodyear's.

Our building just saw a much-needed upgrade last week! The air conditioning units in our building have not been replaced since the new Sheriff's Office was built in 2003. As such, the cost to upkeep an older unit has the potential to cost taxpayers a lot of money over future years of operation.

In an effort to combat that over-time cost, new units replaced the 23-year-old ones! Among many responsibilities, one of Sheriff Darren J. Pierce's constitutional obligations is to be the keeper of the jail and inmates of the county. With that comes the responsibility to ensure that the jail is in good working order and receives necessary repairs. We are excited that the building got some TLC!

Whitfield County Sheriff’s deputies are on scene at the 500 block of Dawnville Road in reference to a motor vehicle crash. At this time, all of Dawnville Road at this location will be closed. Please seek an alternate route if you are able.

NEWS RELEASE

On August 21st, 2026, the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit concluded another investigation and arrested a suspect on multiple charges spanning two separate cases.

Kristian Kriner, of Dalton, was arrested today on the following charges:
O.C.G.A. 16-6-3(b) Statutory R**e
O.C.G.A. 16-6-3(b) Statutory R**e
O.C.G.A. 16-6-4 Child Molestation
O.C.G.A. 16-6-4(c) Aggravated Child Molestation

We've also noticed our Special Victims Unit posts seem to gain quite a bit of traction. Because of that, Sheriff Pierce wanted to clear the air really quick and let everyone know that if you decide to victimize a child in our county... YOU 👏WILL👏BE👏SOCIAL MEDIA👏FAMOUS👏.

The roadway is now clear. Thank you to the Dalton Police Department and Georgia State Patrol for their quick response and assistance. Please drive safely!

Traffic Advisory:

Whitfield County Sheriff’s Deputies, Georgia State Patrol, and Dalton City Police are on scene at N. Thornton Ave just before Cleo Way regarding a felony traffic stop regarding an active incident in Cherokee County. There is no threat to the public. Thornton Avenue at Cleo Way northbound will be shut down at this time. Southbound traffic is moving, however traffic will be heavily congested. Please seek an alternate route. We will update this post when traffic conditions change.
