My Statement
Politics have never really been my thing. However, Damascus, Virginia, is my thing. The Appalachian Trail community as well. Due to current events around the world and the protests here in the United States, I feel it is my time to step up and become accounted for.
It is something to watch from my computer the events of the past few months. First a viral pandemic, then the partial collapse of our economy, the senseless killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis, MN, that ignited a storm, a storm that will not go away for some time I believe.
Change is about us. And we need to prepare ourselves for this change.
Back in 2005, I penned a story about Damascus and have written several others since. I have seen much of the USA but I have never been in a setting such as this quaint little village with such a diverse and unique bunch of folks. I am grateful I have been accepted here.
