Good To Know!
🏛️ Sheriff’s Office 101 | What Happens When You Call 911
When you call for help, our goal is to get the right response to you as quickly as possible. Here’s what happens behind the scenes:
📞 911 vs. Non-Emergency
Call 911 for emergencies where life, safety, or property is at immediate risk
Non-emergency calls are for situations that still need law enforcement but are not urgent
📍 Location Comes First
Dispatchers will ask for your exact location right away so help can be sent—even if the call disconnects
🗣️ Why So Many Questions?
The questions help dispatchers gather critical details, ensure responder safety, and determine the appropriate response
🚦 How Calls Are Prioritized
Calls are handled based on severity and urgency
Life-threatening emergencies are answered first, followed by active incidents and then lower-priority calls
We appreciate your patience and cooperation—your information helps us serve the community safely and effectively.
