BMC transformed into a farmers market! Our fourth and fifth grade classrooms got to pick out some fresh and local fruits and veggies to bring home.

This opportunity was provided by our district’s Nutrition Services Department, and sponsored by a generous child nutrition grant from the Oregon Department of Education. BMC was the final stop after visiting 8 other schools this year!

Special thanks to Dave's Killer Bread and Tillamook for providing even more goodies "for sale!"

To kick off Read BMC Week, students participated in our annual Book Swap! 📚

Organized by the Beatrice Morrow Cannady Elementary PTO, students first took part in a friendly competition to see which grade level could collect the most new or gently used books ready for a new reader. Thanks to our amazing school community, we collected more than 3,100 books!

Our generous volunteers sorted and organized all the donations, and today every student went home with four new books to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make this event such a success! 📖

It's Kindness Week at BMC! During this week, students are challenged to complete random acts of kindness, participate in themed spirit days, and celebrate the peers and adults who make our school a better place.

Today's spirit theme was "share the team spirit of kindness!" Our students did an awesome job representing their favorite team or sport.

The last hearing test sessions for the Nelson cluster just wrapped up with our kindergarten crew! Some kiddos were sheepish about raising their hands at the beep, while others seemed to expect music to come from the headphones, and for a select few, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to start a conversation with their friend sitting next to them taking the test!

Full disclosure, there was also the distraction of an adult trying to snap a few cute pics of the occasion! 😉

Our thanks go to the dedicated team of educators who have spent the last couple weeks testing all of our kindergarten and 2nd graders to ensure that potential hearing issues are identified and addressed early. The work is vital, and we're so lucky to have you all!

Thank you, Cannady families! The opening days of school are always a favorite for the NCSD Communications Team. They to hustled to as many schools as possible to capture the excitement across the district. From Pre-K to high school, we hope all our students had a fun-filled first day! We can't wait to welcome back our 7th and 8th graders and 10th through 12th graders tomorrow!

First graders had a special visit from Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) , where they learned all about weather! Students watched different demonstrations on heat and pressure, then rotated through stations to explore various aspects of weather for themselves.
