Damascus American Legion Post 171 Focusing on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities, The American Legion currently has about 2.4 million members in 14,000 posts worldwide.

We at American Legion Post 171 in Damascus, Maryland, are veterans, men, and women who have served honorably in the armed forces during the war eras prescribed by law. The Post was founded in the fall of 1945. Our Post includes more than 300 Legionnaires, who, like all American Legion (www.legion.org) members, are volunteers who serve with a commitment to support our fellow service members and vet

erans, mentor our young Americans, sponsor community service programs, and advocate for strengthening our nation’s defense and security, patriotism and honor. Damascus Post 171’s Legion Family includes our Auxiliary Unit 171.

Today, on D-Day, we remember the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

In one of history’s most pivotal moments, thousands of brave service members answered the call, many making the ultimate sacrifice in the fight for freedom.

We honor those who served, those we lost, and the enduring legacy of the Greatest Generation. 🇺🇸
