Today is the birthday of Jan Berenstain (1923-2012), co-author with her husband Stan of the beloved Berenstain Bears book series. The Berenstain Bears have charmed generations of readers with their wholesome and heartfelt lessons.

Yesterday, the DFLC's President passed away. Eileen Alberts advocated for Danbury's children day and night. As the Chair of the Danbury BOE for 18 years and then the President of the DFLC Eileen's will not be forgotten. She fought a valiant fight but in the end God had a special place for her in Heaven. Eileen rest in peace. I am sure you will be reading to the children there and watching down over all of us as we continue the amazing work you started.

Tomorrow's Play to Learn Playgroup is at 10:00 am at 17 Cottage St. Courtney from The Clever Crayon will be doing creative art with the children. Parent Educator Laury will be reading and sharing resources for families!!
