Currently the courthouse does not have power which also affects the Sheriff's Office. We are hoping to be able to open the administrative office later today, but the estimated restoration time right now is later afternoon. For now, the office will be closed. If you are planning to come to the Sheriff’s Office today, please call the office before coming to make sure we are open.

We have been notified that Superior Court has been cancelled for the day and will resume Wednesday morning at 9:30am. District Court has been cancelled and will resume on Wednesday at 9:00am. The Clerk’s Office will also be closed today.

NCDOT has confirmed US Hwy 311 at F**g Road in Walnut Cove is now open.

Hwy 311 at F**g Road is still shut down, please do not drive around the barricades that are set up. Towing companies are working to remove the tractor/trailer from the roadway and then will start to remove the equipment from the roadway.

Due to the weight of the machinery, crews are still working on getting the equipment in position to be placed on another trailer for transport. Once the equipment is moved out of the way, DOT will need to make some repairs to the roadway, so Hwy 311 will remain closed until then.

Please find an alternate route to avoid this intersection until cleanup and repair is complete.

We will provide updates as the incident changes.
