New legislation prohibiting the sale and importation of handguns that can easily be converted into fully automatic machine guns has been signed into law.

This addresses a recent nationwide increase in which fi****ms have been designed in a way that enables them to become automatic weapons with the use of a simple conversion device that’s about the size of a Lego.

After months of negotiation, House Democrats shepherded passage of a bipartisan budget demonstrating that compromise remains the most effective way to govern.

The Danbury delegation secured $14.59 million in municipal aid and $65.35 million through the Education Cost Sharing (ECS) grant for fiscal year 2027.

This is what happens when a delegation works together to do what’s best for all Danbury residents — ensuring our city and our schools receive the maximum level of support.

In addition to the funding for Danbury, the legislature produced a 2027 budget that significantly boosts support for the state’s education system, increases crucial investments in housing and transportation, supports town and city budgets, and more—all while safeguarding the state's strong fiscal outlook, including $1 billion toward paying down long-term debt. Connecticut residents made a call for help in many areas. Connecticut lawmakers heard it and answered in a strong, bipartisan way.

April 19-25 is National Library Week. This yearly celebration spotlights the importance of libraries and library workers to their respective community. While libraries are a great place to acquire knowledge, they offer much more than just books - patrons can utilize work spaces, access the internet, and attend programming made for the whole family - free of charge! It can also be a place to escape the brutal heat during the summer, the brittle cold of the winter, or just a quiet spot away from home.

Danbury is home to two libraries - Danbury Library and Long Ridge Library.

If you are interested in visiting either location, click on the corresponding link to learn more about the broad range of services and programs they offer.
