We had a wonderful time celebrating Earth Day with the Jefferson County Public Library! The Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District and NRCS were honored to be part of such a meaningful community event.

Visitors joined us in creating “Soil Babies” and enjoyed a special reading of the Sammy Soil story, featuring Sammy Soil and Ruby Rain Drop. It was a joy to share hands-on learning and stories that highlight the importance of soil and water conservation.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and celebrated Earth Day with us!

Hi, everyone! 🌱
We're getting ready for Earth Day tomorrow with a fun project: Soil Babies! Here's a sneak peek at our little ones before their "hair" grows in. Like this post if you want to see the final result once the grass sprouts!

Want to make your own Soil Baby? Here's what you'll need:
* Grass seeds
* 1 cup of dirt
* Hot glue
* Googly eyes
* Pipe cleaners
* Small plastic cup
* Pantyhose
* Water

Instructions:
1. Cut a piece of pantyhose and fill it with the dirt and grass seeds.
2. Tie off the end and shape it into a head.
3. Hot glue on googly eyes and pipe cleaners for decoration.
4. Place your Soil Baby in the plastic cup, water it, and wait for the magic to happen!

Yesterday, Jefferson County Soil & Water Conservation District had the privilege of hosting a regional meeting for our district conservationists, and it was a great success!

A big thank you to The Hoagie Shop for providing a fantastic lunch, Chris Gann for an insightful cattle E-collar demonstration, and Gene Lynch with Holston Valley Honey Company for sharing his knowledge during an engaging honeybee demonstration. We also sincerely appreciate the Dandridge Farm Bureau for allowing us to use their meeting space and helping make this event possible.

Meetings like these are so important because they bring conservation professionals together to share ideas, learn new techniques, and stay connected on the latest practices that protect our natural resources. Conservation is always evolving, and collaboration helps ensure we’re providing the best support possible to our communities.

Local landowners are at the heart of everything we do. Their commitment to stewardship and willingness to implement conservation practices make a lasting impact on our soil, water, and wildlife. They mean so much to both the NRCS and the Soil & Water Conservation Districts, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside them in preserving our land for future generations.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this meeting a success!

Every Day, and especially on National Ag Day, we recognize the farmers, ranchers, and landowners who keep this country running. They put in long hours, take on real risk, and produce the food, fiber, and fuel that Americans rely on. As we look ahead to our nation’s 250th anniversary, it’s a good time to reflect on the strength of American agriculture and the people behind it.

Over the past 250 years, American agriculture has continued to adapt, improve, and move forward, and the same must be true for the work we do across FPAC. Our focus is simple: make sure our programs work better for the producers we serve, not just on paper, but out in the field.

On , we recognize the unwavering dedication of American farmers, ranchers, and producers who provide the food and resources that sustain our communities. USDA is committed to putting farmers FIRST by supporting their vital work, always ❤️🇺🇸🧑‍🌾
