With a nor’easter expected to impact our area this weekend, our partners at the Danvers Fire Department have shared some important storm preparedness and safety reminders.

Take a few minutes to review their tips, stay weather-aware, and use caution as conditions change throughout the storm.

⚠️ WEATHER ALERT: Weekend Nor’easter Preparations

A strong nor’easter is expected to impact the North Shore this weekend, bringing heavy rain and strong, gusty winds. The storm could result in downed trees and limbs, power outages, and localized flooding.

Now is the time to prepare:

• Secure or bring inside loose outdoor furniture, decorations, and other items.
• Clear leaves and debris from storm drains around your property.
• Charge cell phones and make sure flashlights and batteries are readily available.
• Be prepared for possible power outages.
• Avoid driving through flooded roadways.

⚠️ Stay away from downed power lines and treat all downed wires as energized. Do not touch the wires or anything they may be in contact with. If you encounter a downed wire, move away and call 911.

Danvers Public Safety is prepared and will be monitoring conditions throughout the storm. As always, our Fire, Police, and public safety partners are ready to respond as needed.

SIX-MONTH INVESTIGATION LEADS TO SECOND SEARCH WARRANT AND ARREST
AT 105 GOODALE STREET
After a six-month investigation, the Peabody Police Department applied for and was granted a search warrant for 105 Goodale Street from the Peabody District Court. Officers executed the warrant today and arrested Duarte Silva on multiple criminal charges.
This is the second search warrant the Peabody Police Department has executed at 105 Goodale Street involving Silva.
On June 13, 2024, Peabody Police executed a previous search warrant at the same address. As a result of that investigation, Silva was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Substance, and Animal Cruelty, to which he pleaded guilty to those charges.
After six months of continued investigative work, Peabody Police detectives gathered new evidence that led to a search warrant for the residence. The Peabody District Court granted the warrant, and detectives executed it today.
As a result of today’s search warrant ex*****on, Duarte Silva was arrested and charged with:
1. Animal Cruelty
2. Child Endangerment
3. Possession of Am******on Without an FID Card
4. Trafficking Co***ne, 200 Grams or More

Chief Griffin extends his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Detective Division, Patrol Division, K9 Division, and Drone Division, as well as our law enforcement partners from the Middleton Police Department, Lynn Police Department, Salem Police Department, Danvers Police Department, Massachusetts State Police K9 Unit, and the Animal Rescue League of Boston Police.

Silva is expected to be arraigned in Peabody District Court.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day for our D.A.R.E Golf Tournament! ⛳️

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the tournament such a great day. From our golfers and volunteers to our generous sponsors, donors, and community partners, we truly appreciate everyone who helped make the day a success!

There was plenty of great golf, a lot of laughs, and even McGruff the Crime Dog made an appearance on the course! 🐾

Most importantly, the funds raised through this tournament help support our D.A.R.E program and allow us to continue offering programs, activities and opportunities for Danvers youth throughout the year. The generosity we receive from our community helps us build positive relationships with students that extend far beyond the classroom.

Thank you again to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, or supported the tournament in any way - we’re already looking forward to next year!

🅿️ Event parking will be available in the field, with overflow parking at St. Richard’s Church.
🚫 Please be mindful of posted parking restrictions on Forest Street and Ingersoll Street.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, one of our nation’s darkest days, marked by profound loss, extraordinary courage, and sacrifice that we will never forget.

This morning, members of the Danvers Police Department will join our partners at the Danvers Fire Department to pause, reflect, and honor the lives lost that day, including the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to help others.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember their courage, their service, and their sacrifice — and all those whose lives were forever changed by the events of September 11th.

We Will Never Forget.

🚛 ENDICOTT PARK TRUCK DAY – TRAFFIC & PARKING INFORMATION

Endicott Park’s Truck Day is coming up Saturday, September 12, from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM! If you’re attending the event or traveling through the area, please be aware of temporary traffic changes beginning at 9:00 AM.

🚦 TRAFFIC CHANGES | 9:00 AM–2:00 PM

One-way traffic will be in effect on Forest Street from Maple Street (Route 62) toward the St. Richard’s Church/Dog Park entrance.

Through traffic from Hobart Street will be detoured down Prince Place.

🅿️ EVENT PARKING

Event traffic will be directed through the Dog Park entrance to parking in the field behind the playground. Overflow parking will be available at St. Richard’s Church.

🚫 PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Parking restrictions will be in effect on portions of Forest Street and Ingersoll Street. Please follow posted signs and avoid parking in restricted areas.

Officers and event staff will be in the area to assist with traffic and parking. Please follow their directions and allow a little extra time if you’re traveling near Endicott Park during the event.

📚 Welcome Back, Danvers! 🚔🎒

Danvers Public Schools are officially back in session today!

Our School Resource Officers joined school principals and staff this morning to greet students with a smile and help kick off the new school year on a positive note.

In addition to our SRO's, you may see some extra DPD faces around our schools during drop-off, dismissal, and throughout the day as we work together with school staff to make sure the year gets off to a safe and smooth start.
