Interested in learning American Sign Language (ASL), but not sure where to start? Each week we'll be sharing some basic signs that can help lay the foundation for developing your ASL skills. This week you can learn Hello and Goodbye.

To perform the sign hello, simply place the hand you are writing with on your forehead close to your ear and move it outwards and away from your body. Don’t forget to smile!

Goodbye is the same as the traditional gesture for the word. Open your palm, folding down your fingers, then open your palm again.

A program this month encourages library patrons in Worcester, Mass., who have lost or damaged books or other items to reactivate their accounts. All they need is a picture of a cat.

We’ve heard about the library in Massachusetts forgiving late fees in exchange for cat photos, and we would just like to state for the the record that although BPL has been fine-free for many years now, our staff are ALWAYS happy to accept any adorable cat photos you’d care to share! Bonus points if the photo is library themed somehow…😻📚

So I guess somebody is gonna see this and try to tell me the is a bad place? I'm so sorry, no, the Library is not the enemy. I've been spending a lot of time at the library lately working on something new and it's an unbelievably good place. The is for everyone. Not only are there amazing teen and kid programs here, but the entire Library Philosophy is about self-betterment. . This is a sweater I rescued from the archives, it's either a vintage or pattern. I made this with very old brand yarn from my mother's 1970s stash...the colors are very Really cozy for the NYC autumn, I'm glad I never pitched it.
