Starting Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Town of Danvers and our contractor, D&R General, will begin sidewalk and pedestrian safety improvements at the Elm Street/High Street/Maple Street/Conant Street intersection. This work will inlcude the installation of ADA‑compliant handicap ramps to enhance safety and accessibility for all residents and visitors. Once the new ramps and sidewalks are complete, work will continue through the end of August with the milling and paving of portions of Maple Street, High Street, Elm Street, and Conant Street. We will share specific updates on these paving activities as we get closer to those dates.

Residents may experience temporary traffic delays, noise, detours or lane shifts, and occasional parking restrictions during construction. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we continue the Downtown Danvers Improvements. We will provide updates as the project progresses. If you have any questions, please contact the Danvers DPW at 978‑777‑0001 x3011.

Danvers Electric would like to provide an update regarding yesterday’s power outage.

The outage was caused by a rare and unforeseen motor vehicle incident involving damage to equipment near the intersection of Conant Street, Burley Street, and State Road. Because of the nature of the damage, power was able to be restored to some customers before others as crews isolated and repaired different sections of the system.

Throughout the event, Danvers Electric and the Department of Public Works remained in constant communication with school administration, as two nearby schools were affected. This coordination helped ensure that safety and operational needs were met while work was underway.

We want to extend our sincere thanks to our Electric crews, who worked safely and efficiently to bring power back to all customers as quickly as possible. Situations like this are uncommon, but our teams respond promptly and effectively. As a result, Danvers Electric consistently maintains restoration times that rank among the best in the region.

Thank you to all residents for your patience and understanding.

Per the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Modified Drinking Water Permit, the Town of Danvers announces a change in the outdoor water restrictions to Level 5 effective May 27, 2026. The change in restrictions is due to improved water levels in Middleton Pond and increased flow in the Ipswich River, which now allows the Town to reduce the restriction level.

Level 5 drought conditions permit outdoor lawn & garden watering with hand-held hoses and cans ONLY, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Use of sprinklers and/or irrigation systems is not permitted, as well as swimming pool filling and/or washing of cars. For additional information about the levels of water restrictions, please visit https://www.danversma.gov/654/Outdoor-Water-Use-Restrictions.

Currently the Northeast region of Massachusetts is experiencing severe drought conditions, and communities statewide are implementing water restrictions to protect drinking water supplies, preserve river ecosystems, and ensure adequate water for public safety needs. It’s important for residents to know that even if the state issues stricter statewide drought restrictions, Danvers will continue operating under the guidelines in our Water Management Act Permit. Our permit outlines the specific restrictions we are required to follow, and as long as we meet those requirements, we can remain at our designated restriction level unless conditions change.

As a reminder, violations of the Level 5 drought conditions result in a warning letter for the first offense; subsequent violations may result in a $300 fine. We appreciate the cooperation of all residents during this period.

Residents should be alert to changes in outdoor water restriction levels by way of Town building signage, cable access television, the website at www.danversma.gov, social media (Danvers DPW Facebook & X (Twitter) page), and local newspapers. To receive direct notifications, sign up for “Notify Me” alerts through the Danvers Public Works News Flash at www.danversma.gov/677/Notification-Sign-Up.
