General Information
The Peabody Institute Library is the public library for the town of Danvers, Massachusetts and is part of the North of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE), a consortium of 28 nearby local and academic libraries. The library provides materials for borrowing in many formats: books, audio books, compact discs, DVDs and several museum passes. We offer many services to the public including public computers, a dedicated Homework Center for middle and high school students during the academic year and meeting room available for private rental as well as extensive cultural/recreational programming and exhibits/displays. Author of The Message, The Water Dancer, We Were Eight Years in Power, Between the World and Me, and The Beautiful Struggle, Coates works are evocative of personal intimacy, deep historical reckonings, and the raw physical vulnerability of the Black body.

Hawks, Owls, and Eagles of Massachusetts- Thursday, October 1- 7:00 PM

Using interactive maps, video, photos, and more, this presentation led by Dave Williams will take a season by season approach to examine the more than 20 hawks, owls, and eagles that frequent our area.

Finding Your Next Read: The Four Seasons: A Novel of Vivaldi's Venice by Laurel Corona

Set in early 18th-century Venice, the book reflects the lives of two sisters named Maddalena and Chiaretta who are orphans that live in the Ospedale della Pieta. Chiaretta and Maddalena are both gifted in music, Chiaretta can sing and Maddalena can play the violin. Maddalena over time through the guidance with Composer Antonio Vivald becomes a virtuoso and also his inspiration for his work and muse. Chiaretta, however, has a different fate where marriage to a wealthy Venetian family will expose her to a whole new world as she navigates her marriage and the aristocratic society of Venice. Both sisters in this coming of age novel, will endure love, loss, hopes, dreams, happiness, friendship, and navigating the social world of 18th century Venice. I highly recommend this book, it is a beautiful read! If you love romance, music, and coming of age stories, I highly suggest you check this out. It was a great page turner!
