Please be advised that Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has ordered that the United States of America flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Friday, August 14, 2026, the date of interment, in honor of Corporal Norman Ronald Levesque of Taunton, Massachusetts, who served in the United States Army, Battery C, 15th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War. The remains of Corporal Levesque, who was reported Missing in Action (MIA) in the vicinity of Pohang, South Korea, on August 11, 1950, will be laid to rest at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Taunton, Massachusetts.

This gubernatorial order applies to:

1. The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls

2. Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings

3. All state military installations

Join us tomorrow at 12:30 PM at Town Hall for our Purple Heart Ceremony, where we will proudly dedicate the new Purple Heart Monument in honor of our brave service members.

And tomorrow is National Purple Heart Day, a time to reflect on and honor the sacrifices of those who were wounded or killed in combat. Let’s come together to show our gratitude and support.

We will gather at 12:30 PM at Danvers Town Hall, 1 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA for the official dedication of the Purple Heart Monument.

All are welcome as we come together to recognize and honor the brave individuals who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.
