Please read the following information from the Vermilion County Emergency Management Agency:
Damage Assessment teams from FEMA/IEMA/SBA will be in the area tomorrow, Thursday 9/3/26, throughout the county. This is the next step to try to bring assistance to the residents and businesses impacted by the mid-August severe weather events.

The areas they are covering are the ones with the highest impact. Those were determined partly by the reports submitted to the self assessment portal and in part through cooperation with public works departments.
If you see any of the teams out and about please say hello and help them with any information you can.

Could you be eligible for federal assistance after the August storms across Illinois?
This storm system stretched across the dates of August 11-16 and impacted multiple counties. Because this system was so large, we need to collect damage data in 9 counties to potentially request assistance. The damage could be from a tornado, straight-line winds, rain, and/or flooding that are NOT covered by insurance. And the damage could be to both residential owners and renters.
If you had any damage at all to your home (roof, gutters, basement, hot water heater, furnace and air conditioner, washer/dryer, furniture, vehicles? etc.) we need to track that information to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency grant assistance, which is not paid back. Businesses would document damage for U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loans.
While you might think that your damage—or your community’s damage—isn’t significant enough to report, it will definitely help state government to add the damage losses together to map the statewide losses.
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security is hopeful that by documenting ALL the costs from this storm system, it can request assistance for you from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
If you haven’t already, please copy either this link (iemaohs.illinois.gov/recovery) or use the QR code to enter your damage description.
