Work was recently completed to refresh & repair a legal drain in the Auburn Meadows Subdivision, improving drainage capacity & helping water move more efficiently through the system.

Projects like this help reduce standing water, support proper drainage, protect nearby roads, properties & infrastructure during heavy rain events. Routine maintenance & improvements today help keep this drainage system flowing for years to come.

Thank you to the residents for your patience while this important work was completed. Together, we're helping keep Hendricks County flowing!

❓ Word Wednesday: what is "groundwater recharge"?
The more pavement we have, the less groundwater recharge we get. Do you rely on a well for your drinking water? If so, groundwater recharge should be a very important concept for you.
Surface water can carry pollutants with it into groundwater. This is one of the reasons we need to properly dispose of chemicals.

Dragonflies hunt mosquitoes! And they live in the same habitats which is handy.
🦟 Don't like mosquitoes and want to protect dragonflies?
✅ Use mosquito "dunks" in rain barrels, bird baths, gutters, etc. This is a naturally-occurring bacteria found in soil that kills mosquito larva but not dragonflies.
❌ Don't spray your yard with broad-spectrum insect sprays or mosquito foggers. These do nothing to reduce mosquito populations, and do a lot of harm to beneficial bugs such as dragonflies, lightning bugs, and pollinators. And these chemicals get into our creeks and ponds.
