If you are planning an upcoming event that may involve a protest, rally, demonstration or other organized gathering, please complete the appropriate application and submit it to the Danville Police Department.

The Danville Police Officers Association's 6th Annual Golf Tournament is coming up on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and we're looking for golfers who don't mind a few slices, hooks, and the occasional "practice swing" that accidentally hits the ball. ๐Ÿ˜†

PENDING ROAD CLOSURE

Wednesday August 12 through Friday August 14, 2026

Railroad Crossing Project Planned on Route 54 in Riverside Borough, Northumberland County

From Penndot in Montoursville, PA โ€“

Drivers using Route 54 in Northumberland and Montour counties are advised that Norfolk Southern Railroad Company plans to replace the railroad crossing on Route 54 (Elysburg Road) in Riverside.

The rail crossing is located just off the Danville-Riverside Bridge in Riverside Borough, Northumberland County.

Between Wednesday, August 12 and Friday, August 14, Norfolk Southern Railroad Company will be replacing the railroad crossing at Route 54. Work includes removal of the existing crossing and installation of a new at grade crossing.

Traffic Impacts (DETOURS and ROUTES)

Personal Vehicles

Eastbound Route 54 (Danville into Riverside) traffic will be detoured using Route 11, Route 42, and Route 487.

Westbound Route 54 (Riverside into Danville) traffic be detoured to Third Street, Chestnut Street , and D and H Avenue.

Truck Detour

Eastbound Route 54 (Danville into Riverside) truck traffic will be detoured using Route 11, Route 42, and Route 487

Westbound Route 54 (Riverside into Danville) truck traffic will be detoured using Route 487, Route 42, and Route 11.

Drivers should consider alternate routes as heavy congestion and slow-moving traffic is anticipated in Riverside Borough and Danville Borough.

A SUSPECT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AND CHARGES ARE PENDING.

We appreciate all of the information and cooperation from the public and other law enforcement agencies.

Vehicle break-ins update:

The below pictured male is a person of interest in this investigation. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Danville Police Department @ 570-275-3000 or 570-784-6300.

The Person of Interest is described as the following:

Black male late 20's to early 30's with some facial hair
Wearing a blue tank top, gray jogger style pants and light colored slip on footwear.

The Person of interest is believed to be operating a light colored Jeep SUV (pictured)

Attention:

Theft from Vehicles - 7/20/2026

In the early morning hours on Monday, 7/20/26, numerous unlocked vehicles in Danville Borough were entered by an unknown suspect. The area targeted appears to be from Lower Mulberry St to Water Street, between Mill and Nassau Sts.

The Danville Police Department is currently investigating the thefts and reviewing available doorbell and other video footage. We are requesting that anyone who has security or video footage to contact the Danville Police.

We remind everyone to lock the doors of and do not keep valuables in your vehicle.

It's that time of year again! โ›ณ๐Ÿš”

The Danville Police Officers Association will be hosting its 6th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

There is only room for 32 teams, and spots fill up quickly every year, so don't wait to sign up! Registration deadline is August 27, 2026.

Whether you're a seasoned golfer or someone who spends more time in the woods than on the fairway, we'd love to have you join us for a great day supporting the Danville Police Officers Association.

Need more information? Please contact our lovely administrative assistant, Ryann, who will be happy to help get you registered before your golf ball finds more hazards than your scorecard can handle.
