Did you know about the AWARE Program?
It helps first responders identify when they may be interacting with someone who has a cognitive disability or medical-related impairment, supporting more informed, compassionate, and effective responses during emergencies. The program was created by the Avon Police Department and is expanding across Indiana to help improve safety and understanding for individuals with disabilities and their families.
Individuals with autism, Down syndrome, dementia, and other cognitive disabilities may benefit from participating in the program. Learn more about eligibility, participating communities, and how to enroll by visiting the link here.
