August 28, 2026 — One person was transported to the hospital this afternoon following a single-vehicle rollover crash on Main Street at Coburn Hill.

At approximately 12:30 PM, Danville Police, Fire, and EMS personnel were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a vehicle resting on its roof with an elderly driver and a dog trapped inside. First responders successfully extricated both occupants from the vehicle within several minutes. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The dog was uninjured.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a flying insect entered the vehicle through an open window, distracting the driver. The vehicle subsequently left the roadway, struck a stone wall, and overturned. Speed was not a factor in the crash, and no charges are pending.

Main Street was closed to traffic for just over an hour to allow emergency crews to document and clear the scene. The Danville Police Department extends its thanks to the Kingston Police Department for providing mutual aid traffic assistance.

Before the guy on the right traded in his bass for a Chief’s badge, he was one of the original members of the Coupe DeVille Band, a local classic rock and blues group. For the first time in over 30 years, he and some of the founding members will be together again for a performance at Danville’s Old Days on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The event marks a highly anticipated reunion for the chief and his original bandmates.

Corporal Paddy Capsalis, K9 Crue, and Officer Christopher Dunn provided a memorable and educational experience for everyone staying at the Tuxbury Campground in South Hampton this past Saturday. The campers and guests had an absolute blast watching Crue show off his amazing skills. The best part? The kiddos got to jump in as "junior officers" and help Crue track down and catch the "bad guy"!
