Hard to believe this was 25 years ago 😔. Crews today took a moment of silence at 08:46 to commemorate the time the first plane struck the north tower. Please take a moment today to remember all the lives lost, and to those who have been stricken with illness while performing rescue and recovery efforts days following the collapse. Today is a day we shall never forget!

Teaching children how and when to call 911 can make all the difference in an emergency.

I recently took a 911 call from an 8-year-old child who was home with two younger siblings while an adult in the household experienced a medical emergency and was unable to call for help. The child was able to clearly state their location and describe what was happening, which allowed us to dispatch emergency responders quickly and efficiently.

It was clear that this child had been taught how to use 911 appropriately and that preparation made a critical difference in getting help to the adult in need.

Please take a moment to talk with your children about what 911 is, when to call it, and what information they need to provide. A few minutes of education could one day save a life.
