Danville Volunteer Fire Department

Danville Volunteer Fire Department A group of volunteers dedicated to providing emergency services to the town of Danville, VT.

The Danville Fire Department is a volunteer fire department, meaning there is no one normally at the fire station. When someone is in need of help they call 911 and then we get dispatched by our fire pagers. We then respond to the station in our private vehicles, to get our gear, and then we take the appropriate apparatus to the call. The Danville Volunteer Fire Department responds to an average of 85 calls per year for help.

Use caution if you have to be out on the roads tonight. The town crews and state workers are doing the best they can with the amount of snow coming down. If you can, stay home and stay safe.

At tonight’s monthly training, we geared up and tried on our new Ice Water Rescue suits. Firefighter Montgomery and Dean were the first ones to check them out! A great addition to our equipment and gear.
Chief also had all the trucks checked for fuel and topped off for this cold snap. With the increase in structure fires in our area, we need to be ready for the possible all nighter. Be safe!

❄️ Subzero nights ahead across Vermont

With overnight temperatures dropping below zero, many homes will rely heavily on fuel-burning appliances and generators.

🚨 Fire Safety Tip: Never use grills, propane heaters, or generators inside your home or garage — even with doors or windows open. This can lead to deadly carbon monoxide buildup.

🐾 Bring pets indoors and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Great work in tough conditions everyone.

Last night, the department performed a chimney fire training. It’s always good practice for the firefighters to prepare us for the cold weather months ahead.
Remember to have your chimney cleaned!

Update as of 10/24/25:
Montpelier, Vt. – The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (FPR) has rescinded the September 22, 2025, order that required all Town Forest Fire Wardens to cease issuing burn permits. This order has now been lifted statewide.

Thank you all for your cooperation and patience these last few weeks. Please still contact your local fire warden for burn permits.
