DANVILLE, PA — The Danville Business Alliance is excited to announce a special addition to this year’s Danville Heritage Festival as North Shore Railroad Company and Affiliates brings historic passenger train rides to Danville in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

On Saturday, September 12, 2026, Downtown Danville will come alive with history, art, community, and plenty to see and do throughout the day. Visitors can experience historical reenactors throughout the annual Fall Arts & Crafts Festival, take part in historic walking tours, explore the festival’s artists, crafters, vendors, food, and activities, and even climb aboard a train for a memorable ride through the Susquehanna Valley.

The centerpiece of the railroad celebration will be NSHR 2238, North Shore Railroad’s Semiquincentennial Locomotive, which features a special patriotic design commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

“This is exactly the kind of experience that makes the Danville Heritage Festival so special,” said the Danville Business Alliance. “Danville has an incredible history, and on September 12, visitors won’t just be reading about history, they’ll be surrounded by it. From reenactors and historic walking tours to the Fall Arts & Crafts Festival and the opportunity to ride aboard this special America 250 train, it’s going to be an exciting Saturday to be in Danville.”

North Shore Railroad Company and Affiliates will offer four passenger excursions throughout the day, departing at:

10:00 AM • 12:00 PM • 2:00 PM • 4:00 PM

Passengers will board at Danville Middle School, 252 Northumberland Street, Danville, PA. Each excursion will travel approximately 30 minutes toward Bloomsburg before returning to Danville. Tickets are $20 per seat. Children two years old and younger may ride free when seated on a paid adult’s lap for the entire trip, with one lap rider permitted per paid adult.

Tickets may be purchased online at: https://www.northshorewarehouse.com/danville

The Danville Business Alliance encourages visitors to come early and stay for the day, explore Danville, enjoy the Fall Arts & Crafts Festival, meet the reenactors, take a historic walking tour, visit local businesses and restaurants, stop by the Thomas Beaver Free Library for fun, fall activities for the entire family and make time for a ride aboard the Semiquincentennial Locomotive.

Saturday, September 12 promises to be a day when Danville’s history truly comes to life.
