Mount Cross Volunteer Fire & Rescue We are a completely Volunteer Fire Department located about 5 miles outside of Danville, Virginia on Mt. Cross Road. Visit our website for more information!

We also provide Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of the Mount Cross community. For over 60 years, our Department had served the citizens of Pittsylvania County by providing Fire Protection and EMS First Response for the sick and injured. Today around 3:30pm Tanker 272 responded to a two vehicle incident at the intersection of Mount Cross and Golf Club road.
27 and 25 crews worked together to ensure traffic ran smoothly throughout the incident.

Thanks to Tunstall Fire & Rescue for assisting with traffic control and transporting one patient.

At 5:30 this evening, Mount Cross Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the intersection of Mt. Cross Road and Olde Hunting Trail for a two vehicle accident.

Mount Cross responded with 2 trucks and 6 personnel. Our volunteers worked along side of the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police to open Mt. Cross Road back up in a timely fashion.

Pittsylvania County Public Safety and Tunstall Fire and Rescue responded to handle patient care with a total of 4 patients.

This evening around 5:45 Mount Cross Volunteer Fire & Rescue and Tunstall Fire & Rescue were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a single vehicle down a embankment. Mount cross responded with F271,F272 and 3 personnel. Tunstall responded with Rescue 252 and 4 personnel.
Personnel from both departments worked together to remove 2 occupants from the vehicle and set up a landing zone where one patient was airlifted.
