The annual Make Danville Shine campaign sponsored by the City of Danville and Danville Neighborhood Development Corporation is an effort to promote a cleaner, more visually appealing community. The City of Danville is proud of its natural resources and its neighborhoods and seeks to protect and improve the community through the combined action and stewardship of the residents, businesses, and gove
rnment. The goal of this campaign is to create a more visually appealing community while conveying to the residents, leaders, businesses and civic groups that everyone has a vested interest in protecting and preserving the beauty and cleanliness of the city. This is done by empowering individuals and groups to take greater responsibility and mobilizing them to take action. On April 30, 2016, the 3rd annual Make Danville Shine Home Expo will take place at the Community Market from 8:00 a.m. This event is not only a great way for residents to gain valuable home maintenance tips and information from experts in the field, but also a great advertising opportunity for anyone in a home related trade. In addition to the Home Expo, the City of Danville’s Public Works Department will offer services at no additional cost to the citizens from May 1 until May 31. These services will include providing grapple “bucket” trucks, 18 cubic yard trailers, and roll-off containers available by appointment at no cost, waiving the cost of tire disposal, the restrictions on the collection of construction/demolition debris, and the cost of oversize pile collections.
