⚠️ Weather Update for Boyle County – Next 24 Hours

Wednesday Evening: Warm and humid conditions will continue through the evening with temperatures falling from the upper 80s into the low 70s overnight.

Thursday: Increasing clouds will lead to scattered showers and thunderstorms, with the greatest potential during the afternoon and evening hours. Some storms could become strong to severe, producing:

*Damaging wind gusts
* Heavy rainfall that may cause localized flash flooding
* Frequent lightning
* Downed trees and isolated power outages are possible if stronger storms develop.

Safety Reminders:

* Monitor weather conditions throughout the day and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings.
* Secure loose outdoor furniture and equipment before storms arrive.
* Never drive through water covering the roadway—Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
* If thunder roars, go indoors. Seek shelter immediately when lightning is nearby.

The Boyle County Fire Department will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates if watches or warnings are issued. Stay weather aware and be prepared to act quickly if conditions deteriorate. Stay safe, Boyle County!

The Boyle County Fire Department would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Amanda Mays Bledsoe and Daniel Elliott for their support in securing funding for a new fire engine for the Forkland community.

This funding will allow the department to replace Engine 6, an apparatus that has faithfully served our community for nearly 30 years. The new engine will provide our firefighters with modern equipment, enhanced reliability, and improved capabilities to better protect the residents and visitors of Boyle County.

This investment is especially important in the rural areas of our county, where firefighters and first responders are often operating alone or with limited personnel until additional resources arrive. Having dependable, up-to-date apparatus and equipment is critical to ensuring both responder safety and effective emergency response.

We greatly appreciate Senator Bledsoe’s and Representative Elliott’s commitment to public safety and their continued support of the Boyle County Fire Department and the citizens we proudly serve.

The Boyle County Fire Department is excited to move forward with this project, and we hope to put these funds to work immediately. Our goal is to have the new engine purchased, equipped, and placed into service in the near future, ensuring the citizens of Forkland and the surrounding areas benefit from this investment as quickly as possible.

Boyle County Fire Department Rescues Cow from Lake

Danville, KY – June 7, 2026

The Boyle County Fire Department was dispatched by the Danville 911 Communications Center at approximately 9:46 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, for a report of a cow stranded in a lake near Wells Landing Road outside of Danville.

The Boyle County Fire Department’s Water Rescue Team and Large Animal Rescue Team responded to the scene. Upon arrival, crews located the cow in the water and deployed rescue boats to access the animal safely. Rescue personnel secured the cow to a rescue boat and carefully guided it to shore.

Once on land, firefighters faced additional challenges due to the rocky terrain and steep embankment. Crews worked together to safely move the animal through the rocky area and up the hillside to a secure location.

It is unclear how long the cow had been in the water prior to being discovered. However, despite the ordeal, the animal appeared to be in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

The rescue operation was completed successfully with no injuries reported to emergency personnel or the animal. All Boyle County Fire Department units have since cleared the scene and returned to service.

The Boyle County Fire Department would like to recognize the efforts of all responding personnel whose training and teamwork resulted in a successful outcome.

The Boyle County Fire Department is pleased to officially announce the appointment of Keith Schneider as Fire Chief of the Boyle County Fire Department.

Chief Schneider was selected and hired by the Boyle County Fire Department Board of Trustees on June 2, 2026, and was officially sworn into office on June 4, 2026.

Chief Schneider began his service in fire and emergency services as a volunteer firefighter in January 1995. Shortly thereafter, he began his professional career with the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY).

During his tenure with the FDNY, he participated in the response efforts and recovery operations following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the 2003 Northeast Blackout in New York City, and served as a member of a FEMA Type II All-Hazards Incident Management Team (IMT) in the Logistics Section, responding to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005 and Hurricane Sandy in New York City in 2012.

Throughout his volunteer and professional careers, Chief Schneider advanced through the ranks of both organizations, ultimately serving as Chief of Department within his volunteer fire department and as a Deputy Chief/Division Director within the FDNY.

Following his retirement from the FDNY in 2015, Chief Schneider relocated to Kentucky with his family and continued his commitment to public service with the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Corrections in Fire and Safety. Over the years, he advanced through the ranks and currently serves as a Program Administrator within the Compliance Division.

In 2020, Chief Schneider reunited with the fire service by joining the Boyle County Fire Department as a firefighter assigned to Station 7 (Old Bridge) on Lexington Road. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed Safety Officer for the department. During his service with Boyle County Fire, he was promoted through the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, and Battalion Chief of Safety Operations before being appointed Fire Chief.

With more than 30 years of experience in fire, emergency management, and public safety leadership, Chief Schneider brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and dedication to the department. He is committed to working alongside the members of the Boyle County Fire Department and our emergency service partners to strengthen capabilities, enhance training, and continue providing the highest level of professional service and care to the residents and visitors of Boyle County.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Chief Keith Schneider as he assumes this important leadership role. We look forward to his continued service and leadership as we move forward together in service to our community.
