Bob from LAW Publications will be in the Montour County area this week speaking to business owners for sponsorships to help our Community Safety program, these sponsors will be featured in literature and handouts that inform the public on various topics relating to safety in our community. The handouts are available at our office and also given out at the many events we go to within our community. The literature is completely free and funded by the sponsors.

Our thoughts are with the friends, family and colleagues of Trooper Michael E. Pahira Jr. after his tragic passing in the line of duty earlier today.

The Department is deeply saddened to announce the loss of a dedicated member of our ranks, Trooper Michael E. Pahira, Jr. He was assigned as a Motor Carrier Inspector at PSP Frackville and was killed in the line of duty on July 1. Read more at bit.ly/PSP-MEP26.

Reflecting back on the last 6 years of this event, this is one of the things I am most proud of to bring to our community.

Special thank you to Montour County Sheriff's Office Sheriff William McKenna and PA State Rep. Robert Leadbeter, who will lead the presentation on the Purple Alert. If passed, Pennsylvania will become just the seventh state with such law.

The Purple Alert, also referred to as Aiden's Law, would create an alert system for when individuals with certain cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities goes missing.

The bill was introduced to honor/the memory of Aiden Ha—who was a nonverbal autistic 6-year old from Columbia County. Aiden went missing Oct. 4, 2025, and was tragically found deceased the following day.

State Rep. Robert Leadbeter has been spearheading the bill as it works its way through the legislative process before it becomes an official law. Montour County Sheriff William McKenna works as first responder where the law will improve the way he and others in respond to future emergencies in our community.
