Some moments remind us exactly why we do what we do. ❤️
Yesterday was one of those moments.
Our very own Anna Gonzalez was recognized as a Positively Danville Area Service Super Star, and we couldn't be prouder! While Anna wasn't the only lifeguard who made our Senior Swim program possible this summer, she was there more than anyone else. She built genuine relationships with our senior swimmers, greeted them with a smile every morning, and treated every person who walked through our gates with kindness. Anna, thank you for being such an incredible example of what serving our community looks like.
Senior Swim has become so much more than just time in the pool. It's become a family.
In the last two years, we were seeing around 10–15 participants at each Senior Swim. This year, we celebrated a record attendance of 60 seniors in one session! Watching this program grow has been one of the most rewarding experiences for our entire Danville Aquatic Center team. Seeing friendships formed, hearing laughter echo across the pool deck, and knowing this program has become such an important part of so many people's week is something we'll never take for granted.
Yesterday, many of our senior swimmers surprised the staff working with a heartfelt thank-you card and even sponsored a lunch for our team on the final day of the pool season. That simple act of generosity means more than words can express. (Please note that not all of our staff are pictured, but every member of our team appreciates your kindness.)
To our Senior Swim family: thank you for trusting us, encouraging us, making us laugh, and reminding us that community is built one conversation, one smile, and one morning swim at a time.
You often tell us how much you love coming to the pool... but the truth is, we love having you here just as much. 💙
