🔎 Lost & Found — Update

I’m resharing this previous lost-and-found post since the items remain unclaimed.

In addition to the previous items, a phone was turned in to City hall today. The screen is severely cracked.

If you believe any of these items belong to you, please send a message with a description so we can make sure they get back to their owner.

Please share so we can hopefully get these items back to the right people!

📬 September Utility Bills

City of Danville residents: Please note that September utility bills will be mailed in a standard envelope on paper, rather than the usual postcard format.

We expect utility bills to return to the usual postcard format for the October mailing.

Thank you for your understanding!

*City Brush Pile and Clean-up Updates*

Reminder- The City brush and grass piles are for limbs and grass clippings only. Rules are posted for what is allowed or prohibited. Prohibited items should be taken to the Landfill. Misuse of the brush pile could lead to trespassing or closure of those privileges for all residents.

City workers have assisted with residential clean-up of maintained piles that are by the edge of the road, but we can not guarantee that we will get to every pile, because of our other duties. It should still be every property owners responsibility for disposal, if possible.

The large limb (6 inches or greater) and contractor disposal bans were lifted due to the incident, but will return September 1st, 2026. This will allow ample time to bring large limbs down, or make contractor arrangements to have trees cleaned up.

After September 1st, all rules will be enforced. Those include- Residents only, No trash or construction material, No limbs greater than 6” around, No contractor disposal- even if they are working for residents within the City. Contractors are paid to trim and dispose of trees, not to pass the disposal onto the City.

Rules are posted as you enter City property, and next to the brush/grass piles. Cameras are in use. Questions- please contact City Hall

COMMUNITY REMINDER

We’d like to remind our residents about a couple of important city regulations that help keep our community safe, welcoming, and well-maintained.

Door-to-Door Solicitation-
The City of Danville requires individuals conducting door-to-door sales or solicitation to have a peddler’s license. Residents are welcome to ask solicitors to show their license. If you receive unwanted solicitation or have concerns about a solicitor, please contact DESCOM or the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office to report it.

Political & Contractor Signs-
We’d also like to remind residents and contractors that political advertisements and contractor signs are not permitted in the public right-of-way. From time to time, signs may be placed in these areas by individuals or contractors without the property owner’s permission. If you notice a political or contractor sign that has been placed in the right-of-way, please contact Danville City Hall so we can address it and ensure it is properly removed and disposed of.

Thank you to our residents, property owners, and local businesses for helping keep Danville a safe, clean, and beautiful community!
