We are sad to share that Lazarex Cancer Foundation has closed, and this page is no longer active.

Recent cuts to research funding have made it unsustainable for us to continue operating. We are profoundly grateful to our staff, volunteers, supporters, and VIPs (Very Important Patients) for being part of our journey for the past 19 years. We close with immense gratitude and pride in all we have accomplished together.

If you need support in your cancer journey, we have shared a number of resources to our Instagram page, . Please visit our page to view a list of like-minded organizations providing support to cancer patients.

This year, and every year, we are thankful for everyone who has been a part of Lazarex for the past 19 years.❤️

While we are sad that Lazarex will close its doors in one month, we are filled with immense gratitude for everyone who has been part of this journey — from our patients, to our staff, volunteers, and donors. Thank you for helping us make cancer care more equitable, and for standing with us every step of the way.

All of us at Lazarex want to say thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to the family of Ron Willson for including Lazarex in his obituary. We are so touched.❤️

It was such a joy to know Ron, and his family, when he was a VIP (Very Important Patient) at Lazarex. When Sara Sweeney, his daughter, told us the family chose to mention Lazarex, we were floored by their incredible kindness, during a time of overwhelming grief. What an honor that you all are part of our Lazarex family.

As we are preparing to close Lazarex's doors, we are so grateful for all the incredible people we have met, including the Willson family. You are why we do what we do. Thank you so very much.

We celebrated Halloween the Lazarex way — by showing up for our community with Kaleidoscope Cancer Connection!🎃

Thank you to Kaleidoscope for distributing Bags of Hope to Lazarex VIPs, helping us distribute copies of ‘Willis Watson Is A Wannabe,’ and hosting a Halloween Carnival! It is such a joy to work with you in giving our neighbors the resources they need to .🧡

When Amy Ulrich was on a Zoom call with her doctor when she learned an ovarian cyst she was monitoring had become cancerous.

Worse, the cancer had spread.

Her doctor said: “There’s no cure for this but there is treatment, and I’m going to find a clinical trial for you.”

Amy connected with Lazarex to receive travel reimbursements, so she could participate in the trial. Within six weeks of starting the trial, a CAT scan revealed no cancer detected.

“I don’t know if I’m healed totally or if I’m just getting time, but it’s amazing and a miracle,” she says..

After a stroke paralyzed his right side, Jay noticed that Pacita, his longtime partner, seemed unusually tired as she kept vigil next to his hospital bed.

Months later, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer.

As they sought treatment, Jay connected with Elena Nieves, a Lazarex Cancer Care Companion, through a coordinator for a clinical trial that Pacita participated in.

“Without Lazarex, I don’t know what would have happened to us,” Jay said.
