WOW!!!! What a first week we had at the “NEW and IMPROVED Friendly Town!” Weather was absolutely beautiful! Our friends from the Danville Fire Department came out and talked with us about fire safety and showed us their truck and equipment. Carle ambulance also came out and talked with us about safety and showed us their ambulance. We also able to get outside and and spend a lot of time driving our new cars we have this year. The kids we absolutely amazing this week and I hope they enjoyed their time and learned a few things along the way.

REGISTRATION RE-OPEN/SECOND UPDATE: In partnership with the Danville Fire Department, additional classes are being offered for CPR training due to the large number of registrations! In an effort to reach as many members of our community as possible, those who were unable to register for the Friendly Town classes will have an opportunity to attend CPR and First Aid training at the Police Training Center on Voorhees St. These classes will be held on the same dates and times as the original posting. The registration form is open again and classes are filling up fast!

PLEASE NOTE: This class is intended for individuals 18 and older. We apologize for any confusion from the first post. We are in the process of scheduling a training class geared more toward the youth of our community (12-17) and will make an announcement once available.

UPDATE: All classes are now full! We are amazed by the overwhelming amount of interest in this training course! The classes are filled on a first come first serve basis and we will be sending out confirmation emails to those who registered. We hope to schedule additional classes soon, to include a youth training course, and will reach out first to those who signed up for these classes but missed the cut off.

The Danville Police Department continues to strive in its mission to improve the safety and quality of life for its citizens in the community we share. We are now offering an opportunity for citizens to learn life saving skills and CPR Certification. Space is limited so please get signed up quickly. We are providing an excellent instructor who has real life experience. Emergencies are not planned and we want you to be prepared with the skills you need to help another.

FUN and INTERACTIVE things are happening for our youth in the community!

Danville and surrounding area Middle School and High School students have been busy attending the 2025 Danville Police Jr. Citizens Police Academy. During the first week, students learned about the workings of the 911 Communications Center and enjoyed the tour of the Public Safety Building. During the second week, students enjoyed the Virtual Reality training at the New DPD Training Center and were engaged in various Police Response scenarios. During this most recent week, students engaged in a crime scene and were given various police assignments and collaborated with their fellow classmates on solving the crime.

Stay tuned to see what the following weeks will bring for the JR. Citizen’s Police Academy attendees!

Hard to believe that this was our last week here at Friendly Town for the 2025 season. It was a hottttt week but we still went and spent a lot of time outside learning the rules of the road and getting some driving time in. As always our friends from the Danville Fire Department and Arrow Ambulance showed up. The fire department even brought along one of their new hires, literally first day on the job, and had him show us all his new firefighting gear.

Cannot believe another week here at Friendly Town is done. The kids were absolutely amazing this week! As the week went on the temperatures climbed, but that didn’t stop us from going outside and learning the rules of the road and driving. Arrow Ambulance was back out with us and showed us all their equipment they use to help people and the Danville Fire Department once again showed up and showed us all their tools on their truck and even let the kids spray some water. Hard to believe that this coming week is our last week for this summers classes.
