The SF Bay Area KYDS Club of Kiwanis is doing free gift wrapping until 12-24 at the Somersville Town Center in Antioch. Donations accepted to help the Key Clubbers attend their yearly District Educational Convention in April.

Comments from our new LTG - Jim Stone:

I joined Pittsburg Kiwanis in 1978, it has given me the opportunity to serve and give back to the Pittsburg community. I am honored to be the first Lt. Governor from Pittsburg in over 70 years, when Joe Aiello was that person. He had over 50 years of perfect attendance. He was in his final years as a Kiwanian when I joined. He set a high standard of service. The Lt. Governor position is one of 38 divisions in the California, Nevada, Hawaii district of Kiwanis. Kiwanis is an international organization and has over 180,000 adult members. The CalNevHa district has 10,000 Kiwanis members and over 32,000 Key Club members. Key Club is the high school version of Kiwanis. The Pittsburg High School Key Club is celebrating its 75 Anniversary this year. Kiwanis International ”woke up” and accepted women into its membership in 1987. The best thing they ever did. And for the first time my Pittsburg Kiwanis Club has an all women slate of officers. That is a little about Kiwanis, let me tell you why we do what we do. It is the thrill of seeing children smile when we give them books at community events. It’s the happiness of giving gifts to foster children at Christmas. It’s the satisfaction of seeing Key Club members developing leadership skills. It’s the fun of sitting in the shade under trees we planted at the Pittsburg Adult Ed. years ago. It’s knowing that Kiwanis through its Project Eliminate program has helped reduced maternal and neonatal tetanus disease in 27 of the 39 nations targeted by the World Health Organization. It is Kiwanis serving the children of the world, one child and one community at a time.
