& renovation of the downtown building on
January 10, 2010.

In operation since 1893, the Boyle County Public Library engages the community by promoting life-long literacy and learning, by connecting people to information and technologies, and by contributing to local cultural life. Thanks to generous donors
from The Campaign for the Library and especially

The Spooky Season fun continues at the library this week!

We're headed to Junction City on Monday evening to make decorative Halloween-themed wooden spoons. On Thursday, youth can test their deductive reasoning skills at Live-Action Clue, and adults can learn how to draw something spooky at a 2-part drawing workshop. We'll wrap up the week with our annual Library Trick-or-Treat on Saturday afternoon. All ages are invited to wear a costume and join in the fun!

As always, all library events are free to attend. For more info about library services and all of our upcoming events, visit BoylePubLib.org.

The library created Story Center to preserve and share individual, family, and community memories and to elevate local history. Their series shares notable Boyle County images and moments:

First opened at 312 W. Main Street in 1980, the Toy Box Deli became a staple of downtown Danville. Originally owned and operated by Paul and Kay Arnold, they passed the business to their daughter and son-in-law, Mimi and Steve Becker. The Toy Box later transitioned into a catering business with the Main Street dining space becoming a rentable venue. Following its closure, restaurants have continued to operate at the location.

What was your favorite menu item at the Toy Box Deli?

Painter Rodolfo "Rudy" Ayoroa was born in Bolivia and came to Danville in the 1980s, where he began painting portraits and historical scenes inspired by the Battle of Perryville. Story Center is now gathering information about paintings from his Danville years. Do you own a Rudy Ayoroa painting? Did you commission a portrait? Can you help identify the subject of the painting in this post, currently on loan to Story Center and on display upstairs at the library? E-mail [email protected] with information that might add to this project, part of our efforts to preserve community memories and elevate local history.

The library created Story Center to preserve and share individual, family, and community memories and to elevate local history. Their series shares notable Boyle County images and moments:

Established in 1990, Elmwood Inn Fine Teas began as a tea room in Perryville. The tea room was based in Elmwood, pictured, a historic 1842 mansion built by John Burton. The building served as a makeshift hospital after the Battle of Perryville. Later, it was home to a school called Elmwood Academy until its closure in 1924. Elmwood Inn Fine Teas stayed in its historic location until the tea room closed in July 2004. The company is now based in downtown Danville where it includes a tea shop and wholesale business that supplies restaurants, coffee shops, museums, and other businesses across the country.
